Tell me about the 5% off with Target CC

How does the 5% off with a target credit card work exactly? Let’s say my purchase is $100 and for payment, I use a $50 target gift card and apply $50 to my target credit card. Will I receive the 5% off my entire purchase, or just the $50 that I put to my credit card?

The 5% comes off the amount you put on your Red card. I was in Target yesterday and my total was $75. I had $50 in gift cards, which they took off first. Then paid the remainder with my Red debit. The 5% came off that remaining amount, not my total.

You do not have to use the credit card to get the 5% off. They also have a Target debit card. It linked just like your regular debit card and no interest payments.
