Tell me about Teppanyaki

I could not find many reviews of this restaurant. I'm thinking of booking this in Sept. when we go for free dining. Please tell me your experiences.

It is one of my favorite World Showcase resturants. I always start by ordering a Tokyo Sunset to drink - YUM-O!!! Tried the California Roll the last time we were there - very yummy. Seto is my favorite entree (Shrimp and Scallops). My husband likes the Fujiyama which is New York Strip Steak and Shrimp.

DH and I really like it there. We love Japanese cuisine. Everytime we have gone, it has been a great experience. However, there have been trips we have skipped it, b/c it is alot like the Japanese restaurants we have in our town.

However, it was special to say that I have eaten in a restaurant like that in DISNEY!!!

I think you'd be VERY happy eating there! Great food & Great times!

Hopefully their rehab will be completed by the time you go (supposed to be done by August 25) - here's what allearsnet.com says:

Teppanyaki Restaurant in Epcot's Japan pavillion will be closed for a major rehab April 15 through August 25, 2007. NOTE: This rehab has been rescheduled several times now -- and may change again. Check back to make sure of dates. (Originally reported dates were January 15 - May 25, 2007, then March 11 through July 14.)

If it's anything like projects at my house, it'll probably end up taking longer than expected!

We ate here last time in Disney 2000, it was terrific and the kids loved them cooking the food right in front of you, with their little flipping of the knives and all. Going back in November can't wait

We really enjoyed it and it is on our to do list this year as well. A lot of fun for DD to see the chefs cooking at the table.

My understanding is that the menu was going to experience a major rehab as well. We are really looking forward to trying it in October. Old or new menu, I am sure it will be good.

Say it isn't SO!!! I changed it to the beginning of my stay because I thought it would be long done by then...I have ADR's on the 26th! Talk about cutting it close...I love that place...one of my FAVE WDW TS's by far.

I was thinking of booking it for 9/2 but this makes me worry. How much could a menu change if it is still going to be Japanese Hibabchi? If they weren't going to do the hibachi anymore, I don't think we would want to go. Does anyone know any more about this menu rehab?

It's not that they are changing the style of cooking (the hibabchi) just what they cook I believe. I don't think the food will be unrecognizable. I just wanted you to know it might not be the exact sane menu...

We have an ADR for 8/31.
Called DD today and was told that it will be open, likely by 8/20 (the date they are using) though it is stated most other places a bit later. Was told that they are gearing up for the free dining and want to have it ready for that. Who knows???
In the meantime, I can't hold another ADR the same day for dinner, right? SO, if it is NOT ready I hope I know in advance to try and get another place to eat. Last year getting ADR's during Free dining promo was difficult. Hoping it works out!

We have an ADR there for 8/23. When I called, the CM told me it was scheduled to reopen on 8/21. I'm worried that we won't have a place to eat that night. I may call today and see if the re-opening date has changed. I made our ADRs about 2 weeks ago.

I've never eaten there and hope to try it this trip.

Good Morning Everyone,
I had to make a call to Disney this am and asked about this restaurant. Was told they are gearing up for it to be opened on time BUT
if it is NOT ready and someone has an ADR and you're a guest they'll have phone numbers to contact prople and then try and get them another place to eat. He said they are staffed for "just that" Seems crazy to me but thats what I was told....
Just thought I'd pass along. Hoping it is ready, my child SO wants to eat there!

Hmm, given the uncertainty about when they will be open and menu changes - and the fact that I really want to have solid ADRs since we are going during Free Dining, I think I'll try to find another choice.

Do they offer lobster or other high priced seafood? I wonder if they are planning on taking it off of their menu- IF they change their menu?

I know here- our hibachi grills have normal plates with steak and chicken and shrimp and then the 'high priced' plates with the lobster.

We have ADRs booked for this place- I hope it's better then the CS meal in Japan (I don't remember the name of the place)! THAT was gross- we ended up tossing it and walking away!

2) So, the new menus might look different than in the past.
