Tell me about Target Red card

You get 5% off Disney Gift Cards, right? Then I've read people mentioning something about a Pharmacy Card. What's that about?

I just signed up for the Target red debit card this past week. I wish I would have done this a LONG time ago. I immediately bought $150 in Disney gift cards and received the discount. I plan to buy $150 per month in gift cards to pay off our trip this December.

Good to know the Pharmacy discount won't work here in NJ. I was going to transfer some prescriptions there for the discount and now I won't have to bother.

The pharmacy discount is not available in New York, New Jersey, or Arkansas due to our stupid laws.

Wonder if it would work if you filled those prescriptions at a Target in either PA or DE, if you are close enough that is, or if you are automatically out of getting those rewards based on your address?

If you were got denied for the Red Credit Card I believe you have a right to a copy of your credit report, and I thought they were supposed to tell you why you were denied. Maybe there is something on there that should not be.

As to a Red Debit card being denied, I'm not sure of the resons they could deny you. Maybe someone else here knows why it could happen.

I had an issue, but it wasn't because of my credit... it had to do with my bank not being part of some debit network (I forget the name of it), that Target utilizes. I received a letter with instructions to call an 800# for manual approval. Instead of going through the debit network, it goes directly through to my bank. HTH.

Yeah, the denial letter should outline why you were denied and indicate which of the credit reporting agencies they obtained their info from and you can give that agency a call and find out what's up. I'm recovering from bankruptcy (3.5 years out!!) and had no problem getting a Target red card.

They said it had something to do with me having a card?? We really never looked to much into it. We go together to Target but I have also just sent my card with him and he has had no problem using it.
Also my friend just told me about Cartwheel on my smart phone. I can't wait to start using it at Target and save even more money!!

My wife and I both have one (debit) that goes off the same bank account, guess it's a joint account. Not sure why you having one would preclude him from getting one unless he was trying to get one using the same bank account you do and they only allow one target account per bank account. If that's the case see if you can add him to get him a card on your Target account to make it a joint account. I hope that makes sense.

This is so interesting! I didn't realize that with the Target RedCard, you could actually get a 5% discount on Disney gift cards! Does it matter if you have the debit card or credit card? I will be applying ASAP.

Also, what can the gift cards be used for at WDW? Restaurants, gift shops, hotel balance?

Yes, it works with the Red debit card. I just applied a few weeks ago and have purchased $250 in cards so far for our December trip. You can use them for everything you mentioned. I *think* they might not work for the restaurants Disney doesn't own on property but you can agenda them in at check In for your charging priveleges. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks!

I have a Target Debit card. I saved $442.50 yesterday by using my redcard 5% and my pharmacy rewards 5%. I live in NC. I did have to speak with a manager after the cashier rang up the cards because the transaction was so big. There is a receipt with a phone number to call. I asked the cashier for a manager and he took me up to guest services and we called from their phone. We spoke with the guy and he said I was good to go. The target people were really nice and people were intrigued that I was buying so many gift cards. HTH

Frequent Target shoppers: there is a useful app that can help your Disney wallets even more. Shopkick has check in & UPC scavenger hunt aspects for points toward gift cards at a variety of stores, Target among them. You can also link a card to it and get points per dollar.

So you check in, scan and buy at Target, get Target GC, use those to buy Disney GCs.

I thought you can't use Target gift cards to buy other gift cards.
