Hello!

We (family of 4: DH, me, DS (6), DD (2)) will be staying at ASMo for 3 nights and then switching to POR for 5 nights (other family members will be arriving that day as well). We will not have a car. Please tell me what the best plan of attack is for switching to POR. Any tips from those of you that have done a switch before?

Thanks!

I have only changed resorts from Pop to the Boardwalk, but here's what we did. We stopped by the Pop luggage area (bell services) the night before we made our move and requested a luggage pick up and transfer for the next morning. We also called them from our room and asked for a luggage pick up and transfer. They asked us how many bags we needed to have moved and told us to leave them inside the room by the door and that they would be picked up some time the next morning and transported to the Boardwalk. We grabbed a taxi the next morning and went to check in at the Boardwalk. Our room was not ready so we set off for the parks. When we returned that afternoon we checked into our room and called bell services and they brought our luggage to our room. It was SO easy! It's a great service.

This is exactly how it worked for us the one time we switched mid-vacation to AKL - Disney does an awesome job on this.

But we did not take a taxi - we just hopped a bus to a park - enjoyed ourselves for awhile and then took another bus back to AKL.

The above advice is what you need to know. In addition make sure there is nothing in your luggage you need during the day, as you won't be able to get it until after 3pm. Make sure you have your luggage together and make a note for yourself as to exactly what you left for pickup, so that when it arrives you can make sure you got everything delivered to you.

Also just in case there is some delay in getting into the new room or getting your luggage do not plan something for the early evening of the move such as Dining Reservation that would put you in a bind.

The best plan is to make no plans except to move and have a day at the parks while you are without a room.

You might have to let your little one nap in the stroller on that day until you get a new room.

I have heard of people that have done this and have not gotten their luggage at their new resort until late in the evening. Just want you to be forwarned.

Thanks so much for all the information and tips. From what you're telling me, it sounds pretty easy -- but snags can occur, so I should have a backpack at the park packed with stuff like I take on the airplane (toiletries, extra clothes for kids, swimsuits) -- just in case our luggage doesn't make it as soon as we need it.

Thank you for all your help! :flower:

The most important thing is to do it early. After 10 you probabbly will not get your lugage till very late.

We actually like the experiance. And you might want to set your suitcases so you only unpack one for each place. It makes the repacking much easier.
