I would really like to try Starring Rolls on an upcoming trip....mainly cuz of the cupcake thread :rotfl2: My sons are dying to try it too- boy those cupcakes look good.

Looks like mainly a bakery with a few sandwiches. Do they have outside seating?? The sandwiches look huge- are they big enough to split (especially if we have alarger than usual dessert?!) We are looking to go during peak time, my only concern is that we want to have someplace to sit.

Any if you want to suggest a cupcake...I am listening

We've eaten there before

They do have some sandwiches as I recall it's ham & cheese and turkey & cheese - both are large and can easily (IMO) be shared. We tend to get 2 sandwiches and dessert and split it between the 3 of us (dh, myself and dd 12). We had to take most of the cupcake to go - ran out of room but don't worry we did eat it later!

We loved the butterfinger cupcake and are looking forward to having it again and trying new ones  on our upcoming trip.

We've eaten there and, yes, the cupcakes are yummy. We had the butterfinger cupcake and the peanut butter one.

There's a small seating area outside. More importantly, Starring Rolls has relatively short hours - it generally closes around 3 PM. If you want to try one of the cupcakes I would recommend going for an early lunch because they have been known to sell out before closing time.

There is an outside seating area. It is on the corner of two main walkways and I find that a lot of people cut thru the seating area to avoid congestion on the walkway. So It's not necessarily the quietest eating area especially in peak time.
I loved the chocolate peanut butter cupcake, but like PP said, they do sell out of the cupcake; and when they are gone for the day, that's it. I had my heart broken my first trip when I went and they had sold out of all the cupcakes after seeing pics on the DIS!

If you need a dessert fix and SR is closed, check out The Writer's Stop (St. of America) The stay open late. They have a lot of baked goods and a few of the regular cupcakes. Also we found some of the same cupcakes at Contempo Cafe, Disney Quest, and Boardwalk Bakery. I'm sure there are even more locations with them.

We had some sweets at Starring Rolls over the summer. We found there to be quite a few tables...I mean, not what you'd find at one of the big well known super popular CS eateries, but a lot for a cafe style setting. We loved it b/c it felt a bit sheltered from the crowds.

The cupcakes were great as was the service. DD5 is peanut and tree nut allergic. They didn't feel anything in the case was safe for her, but they were able to get a brownie for her that was deemed safe...and she loved it. They also took a little while ringing DH up b/c they messed up something with our dining plan credits, so they gave us a Mickey cookie w/chocolate dipped ears for free.

We did not eat anything else there, but I heard several people raving about their sushi and there was one guy who was devouring his sandwich....think it was the turkey--looked very good.

Thanks for the info and cupcake recommendations :goodvibes
We will have to try a Butterfinger cupcake, and my sons had their eyes on the chocolate peanut butter one. But red velvet looks good too...
Maybe we just skip the sandwiches and eat cupcakes only :rotfl:

humm I wonder (and if anyone knows do chime in) if we could do the old CS switch and get 3 "snacks" that would count as one CS... we're on the QS plan this time around.

I can vouch for the red velvet cupcake! My kids enjoyed the peanut butter one but decided that next time they're going to share it. They're really very rich (but very good!). Enjoy!

Like others said, the outdoor seating area is VERY small and there is no indoor seating. I've never tried their "real" food, but the cupcakes are FANTASTIC! My fav is the red velvet. The banana mousse dessert is also excellent. You really can't go wrong there!

Red velvet cupcake is to diiiiiie for. We found the service really really slow when we were there. We asked for cupcakes to go, because we were leaving to go back to the hotel, and they looked at us like this was a completely foreign concept (we managed to get them to go, I'm willing to be really, reeeeally patient when the end result is delicious red velvet cupcakes)

Also, beware the time, on a later trip we stopped in late afternoon and they were closed already. It was May, so this might have been a seasonal thing?

In my experience the only place we were able to get 3 SC for 1 CS was at the resorts. (maybe not all of them) They have a Continental Combo button that they use which allows 3 SC items for 1 CS. I haven't heard of anyone being able to do this in the park but it would be great if you could.

I was even able to get 3 ice cream sundaes at POP using the "CC" button. :goodvibes

I shared the choc/peanut butter one with my 5 year old and we only finished half of it. They are SO rich! (my fav so far) I'd like to try the red velvet but it's always gone when I go. :headache:

I am becoming a Disney cupcake freak. :goodvibes

Kusifiri at AK had really nice cupcakes too. The cotton top one (search it to see a pic) is lovely.

I did NOT like the cupcakes at the caramel shop in Germany. I was sooo disappointed by it. The yellow cake was nice and moist but the icing was gritty and gross. Maybe it was just an off day.

I think we got a sandwich, chips, drink and cupcake for a QS credit. I know we ate chips. I didn't pay oop for them.

The cupcakes are mostly frosting. Oodles and oodles of frosting. We split 2 cupcakes between 2 adults/2 kids and could barely finish them. Very rich.

The sandwiches had tons of meat on them. My dd (she was 5) at a portion of the meat from my sandwich and I still had plenty. I've heard of some people simply buying a crossant and putting some meat on it for a child's sandwich. I think there's plenty to do that.

I am NOT at all a cupcake fan but I love Starring Rolls for some of its' other delicious pastries like the Cheese Danish and the Banana Split which is really not a traditional banana split but some sort of dessert cup that has chocolate, strawberry and banana in it.

OK thanks to you all dh can't wait to try the red velvet cupcake - I'm going to "sneak" a bite! DD and I loved the butterfinger one when we went last time and are going to get that one again - although I do agree with the PP that mentioned how rich the cupcakes are. And yes they do have funny little to go containers for the cupcakes.

I've decided I'm not taking a chance on the cupcakes selling out. I told my DH we have to go by Starring Rolls, before we check into the hotel. The hotel isn't going anywhere. The cupcakes may. We're not early risers, so our arrival day may be our best chance. Plus, I want to try more than 2 of them. My DH & I can only manage to share two at one time, so we need to try to get by there early another day. I really wish they stayed open later, & made enough cupcakes for them to last until closing. It seems kind of ridiculous that you have to plan your day around getting a cupcake. :rotfl:
