We decided on this resort since there was no availablity at the other ones with DVC points. We're staying in a 1 bedroom. How is the food, any quick fare? Also busses..how do those run? Thanks!!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

We have stayed at SSR for 5 different weeks in various areas and really enjoy the resort. The quick food service at Artist's Palette leaves a bit to be desired. It's good for one meal but there's not much variety; we prefer to eat in our room.

The resort is very large. The busses will stop at Grandstand first and Springs last with Paddock, Carousel and Congress Park being in between. Springs is the closest to the main pool and Artist Palette. If you have young children, I would request that section or Grandstand. We prefer Congress Park and Paddock because it's always quiet there but it's a good walk to the main area from those sections.

Everyone has opinions, that is good. Opinions are based on personal preferences, so here is mine.

Love, love, love SSR. There is nothing about it, I don't love.

Artist Palette is our favorite quick service on the property. We really like that it serves food different from burgers and chicken fingers.

We really like the beautiful landscaping and quietness of the resort. It is so peaceful after a busy day at the parks.

We have had very good experiences with the buses. Really like being close to Downtown Disney, too.

Walking distance to anything on the resort is not that far to us.

We are just back this week from our first trip "home." We stayed here as well b/c I couldn't get anywhere else. What a great surprise!!!!! We LOVED it. We stayed in Grandstand adjacent to the pool. The bus was 30 secs behind us, and breakfast was a 5 minute walk. The grounds are pretty. The pools wer great!!!! I loved the boat to Downtown Disney.

Artist's Palette is very small, but the food was great. I never waited more than 5 minutes. I can imagine it would be very busy at times based on the size of the resort.

I would highly rec'd this resort!!!!!

Thanks everyone...I just checked out the map and the place is HUGE! Didn't realize it was so big. We are using someone else's points, he already book the ressie in my name. If I want to request a building, can *I* call or does he have to..or should I just request at check in?

Now being that we are staying on points, we don't get mousekeeping services and I just read you get towels one time. How many towels do they give you? We will have four people and will probably go through a lot of towels. Is there anything else should I bring from home?

To reply to your question on the busses, it can be hit or miss. In reality, it is probably no different than any other resort. We have had wait times anywhere between 5 and 40 minutes. I would say that things have improved somewhat over the last year, but I still see the occassional thread saying there were long waits. I believe this is the key: If you plan for it and expect having to wait for a bus, then busses will not a problem, especially when one comes sooner rather than later.

~Member who booked your stay would have to call Member Services to note
a request in a particular area of the resort. It's really best not to get too
specific requesting a building number or villa number because that will
be a harder request to fill, so list your request(s) by order of priority
noting a section of the resort first :
ie, Springs section & then if you want to get more detailed add as a 2nd
request a building # within Springs or say 'close to bus stop' etc.

Just keep in mind that there are no guarantees that you will actually get any requests that you make.

You can wait until check-in and make the request
but it is usually better idea to do so before.

~ Trash & Towel Day is 4th day after you check-in. Check-in day counts as Day 1 so if you checked in on Sunday for example then your Trash & Towel will be on Wednesday - - Mousekeeping will empty trash pails and replace liners(you can also throw away your own trash, each section has place to do so and your villa will have extra liners) and Mousekeeper will also give you another clean set of towels for your villa, for a 1 bedroom villa you will get at least if I remember correctly
4 bath towels, 4 washcloth & 2 hand towels; you can request an additional towel pack at approx $6 but your 1 bedroom villa will also have washer/dryer & most members find it easy to just launder the towels than to call and pay for more. Soaps, shampoo, toilet tissue, paper towel, dish & laundry detergent & coffee starter pak will be replenished too if needed on Trash & Towel Day.

Enjoy your trip :goodvibes

We really loved SSR on our recent trip. Artist Palette had a nice selection, but was a bit confusing the first time we ordered! They can explain the process to you the first time you order. The main pool area High Rock Springs is fantastic! We spent a lot of time there. In the evenings they have pool side Movies. The boat to DTD is a nice ride. We stayed in The Grandstand and liked walking through the Treehouse Villas and getting on the boat there. We had no issues with the buses at all. I think we had great luck with them actually! The only really crowded bus was the one leaving DTD at closing. It would probably have been faster to walk back.

Thanks everyone! and thanks so much for the towel explanation. I forgot there was laundry so that makes it easier!!

I always take extra laundry detergent/dryer sheets (either in my grocery delivery there or take in my luggage). The villas will have some detergent but if you are planning to launder the towels daily, it won't be enough. Having the washer/dryer is the best thing about staying in a villa IMO.
