Tell me about September at DL

We had considered spring, but are now thinking about September as the timing for our second visit to Disneyland (our first was in 2001).

Tell me about September. Crowds? Weather?

I can already see that there is a significant difference in price! That's a good thing.

September is usually a great time to go! I would avoid labor day weekend but other than that, it is usually pretty slow especially on weekdays!! We walked on almost everything including Space Mountain. The longest lines were for the water rides in the middle of the day since it was still pretty hot.

Weather is still pretty warm, it was in the 90's when we went this year, 23-26of September and we spent a day at the beach! Pricing is another great thing, I usually find the absolute lowest prices for September and January!

September is a wonderful time to go to DL. If you go after Labor Day, most schools are back in session and you have fewer crowds and waiting in line.

Do keep in mind that the temperatures are still in the 80's and 90's. My DD got married at the Paradise Pier Hotel several years ago and it was 94F in mid September.

Uncrowded and Hot.
Hottest time of the year, usually.
That said, I love Sept because it's like the last "hurray" before summer is gone, the parks are so empty and the onsite hotel rates are fabulous!

Forgot to mention in case it matters to you, Haunted Mansion is usually closed almost the whole month of September for the NBC layover. So if it's your favorite ride or something, I wouldn't want you to plan and then be dissapointed!!!

After Labor Day in September is always one of my favorite times to go!!! Last year we had almost no wait for anything and weather is still pretty warm. I say go for it!

Was that just this past year (the end of the 50th celebration), or is that typical?

We went at the end of Sept. 2006, and had a great time. It was our first trip ever, so I have nothing else to compare it to other than what I've heard about. Pluses included not crowded except for weekends. Drawbacks included many attractions (shows and rides) canceled for refurb or slow season. We were sooo disappointed to miss the Aladdin musical! I love musicals, and my DS6 loves the movie, so it would have been a great show for us. Also sad to miss the Electric Light Parade (did I say that right?), I've always wanted to see it. Also shorter park hours, shorter daylight hours, and colder nights. (The boys loved to go to the pool in the evening, but it was a bit chilly for me. For them, too, but they insisted!)

The 90-ish days were a bit warm for those of us used to cooler temps, but the evenings were perfectly comfortable t-shirt and shorts weather, perhaps a sweatjacket or sweatshirt added at the most.

Seems like many more drawbacks on my list, but they're relatively minor concerns, whereas the crowds were a big deal to us; we don't like being in crowds! So our next trip will be planned for the fall again, and the timing will just depend on (hopefully) whatever specials are offered, and work/school schedules.

Usually the VERY end of September has large crowds since the last weekend is usually the opening weekend of Haunted Mansion Holiday. That alone draws in HUGE crowds. But we had no problems from the 23-26 last year before it opened.

I went at the very end of Sept, Thurs Friday. First day of the Halloween stuff going in. Thursday was WONDERFUL walked on most everything, did not need Fastpasses. Friday was much more crowded, but we hit DCA in the morning, Fantasmic/Fireworks in the evening. Had an incredible time one on one with my 8 year old. Planning on making it an annual event I think.

I dont think so, i remember taking my cousin in on September 26th, and the line were long... Indy had like a 45 min wait time, Splash has like a 30 min wait time...

maybe its just me, but i consider that to be crowded... i like days where space mt has fast passes turned off
