Tell me about Santa Monica pier!

Is it near Disney/la or San Diego? We are doing both cities and I'm trying to plug in things to do at each location and I keep seeing this. Help!

The Santa Monica Pier is in the suburb of Santa Monica which is in the city of Los Angeles which is actually north of Anaheim(Disneyland). If you were travelling from the North and going down South you would go from Los Angeles to Anaheim (Disneyland) then further south to San Diego. The drive from Anaheim to Santa Monica could take as long as 45mins - 2hrs depending on traffic. The drive from Anaheim to San Diego is approx. 2 hours.

As the pp said, the Santa Monica pier is not close to DLR and is even further from San Diego. It is doable as a day trip from DLR since there are other things you might enjoy seeing and doing in the Santa Monica area.

1) 3 days at Disney

2) Move to Old Town Pasenda hotel to do LA things (Dodgers Game, La Brea Tar Pits, Griffith Observatory, other ideas?)

3) Move to San Diego - Cornado Marriott - to do Padres Game and other San Diego ideas - beach?

So where do I do Santa Monica Pier?

Here is our trip.

Fly to LAX, drive down to Carlsbad on a Tuesday and stay in Carlsbad. We havent figured which days to do at which parks. We are skipping the Zoo - I think. Unless we squeeze it in on the Sunday we drive up to Anaheim.

Fri LaJolloa/Seals/Tide Pools/Mt Soledad/Gilder Port/Torrey Pines
Sat LegoLand
Sun Mission Beach/Coronado/Point Loma/Drive to Anahiem
Mon Disneyland
Tues California Adventure
Wed Hollywood, Santa Monica Pier/ Flight at 7pm

So where do I do Santa Monica Pier?

It would make most sense to go to Santa Monica on #2 as it is in LA but you may need 2 days to do all of the things you would like to do in LA.
