Thinking of going there for lunch instead of dinner, what is the good, bad and ugly on lunch only.
Another place he wants to try for lunch is Sci Fi.....why is he picking all the places that get negative reviews???![]()
Nicki, we had lunch at Sci-Fi and it was fine - we just stuck with burgers and boozie milkshakes but it was quite tasty and the atmosphere was a lot of fun. Not a place we'd go back to all the time, but certainly fun for lunch (I think it's overpriced for dinner).
So just as you are replying to my post I am reading your past reviews of Sci Fi! I am so going to order those booze concocted shakes and I dont even like shakes!
I guess I shouldnt complain, DH is really getting into this ADR thing with me but he is messing with all the plans that I already have! Can you believe he actually said to me, "Is the food there good for pictures?" Oh boy do I have this kid trained!
We like San Angel for lunch! It is a nice cool break! We think the food is pretty good also!

I think you need to think what you are comparing good Mexican food to. We went there on our Honeymoon 10 years ago and loved it. We also went back for dinner 18 months ago, and loved it. We have another ADR set up for this trip for lunch.
I think there are different regions of Mexican food, so you have to take into consideration that this is supposed to be authentic. I grew up in California where Mexican food is served with shredded beef and is more tomato-ee, and then moved to Texas where Mexican food is served with ground beef and is more Tex Mex- more chili based. I live in Utah now and every one "swears" by the Mexican food here, and honestly, the best Mexican food here is Taco Bell. So I think it really depends on what kind of Mexican food you are expecting and used to. I personally love San Angel Inn and it is one of our favorites.
I have to agree. I love the "Mexican Food" here in Texas and realize it is different every where. I'm sure different regions have their own unique flavors just like people's accents.
We were in Utah (Moab) last summer and every one we talked to swore by a particular restaurant. We were very unhappy with it compared to what we have here. I know when we try San Angel in a couple of weeks, I am going in with an open mind and no expectations of comparing it to Tex-mex.
Whew! I was expecting to get a little back lash from that comment. It is nice to see people have the same understanding! I was born in Texas, raised in California and moved back to Texas and lived there another 10 years before moving to Utah. And "MAN do I miss me some Mexican food!" When I fly back to Dallas, I eat Mexican every meal. People just don't understand. My mom and I will fly to Los Angeles just for Mexican food. I would say that I am pretty open for Mexican, and I have eaten Mexican in some hole in the wall places, and sometimes it is great, and sometimes it is NOT. But San Angel Inn is one of our favorites. My brother, who lives in Colorado (again, not a great place to get Mexican food), is dying to go there and was on the list of must dos while in Epcot. So I really think it depends on what you have been exposed to and are used to. But my mouth is already watering for a margarita. WOO HOO
