Is it good? I want to try different restaurants this time that we have never been to before. We usually do Coral Reef at Epcot. Thanks!

We loved San Angel Inn. Not only was the food very good, the atmosphere can't be beat.

The food is NOT tex mex, but more traditional dishes. So be aware of this. I had the sirloin with black beans and chili relano. (can't remember the name) and DH had the Chicken Mole. Both were very good.
The salsa was mild, but sure was HOT to me. I eat mexican at least twice a week so mild vs hot I know about. It caught me a bit off guard. But still good.

The atmosphere is excellent. You dine INSIDE the pavillion yet the restaurant decor is set to be "outside". You dine along side the small river (boat ride) next to the volcano. Just so romantic! You really have to experience it to get the full affect.

I highly recommend this restaurant for romance and good food.

I love the San Angel Inn. I think that the food is tasty, the atmosphere is cool and the margaritas alone are worth a reservation. I'm a little put off by the recent changes to the restaurant, though. The old square tables have been replaced by long tables, so one may find themselves dining elbow-to-elbow with strangers. Communal seating seems counterintuitive to the restaurant's self-perpetuated "romantic" reputation.

wow i was just going to say that it was nice to have a table for two by the water. the dessert was great, the bread pudding. food was so so. atmosphere is great.. but forget it, i will not sit with strangers!

Ugh that's so disappointing to hear about the tables! We saw it when we rode that boat ride and I always thought it would be such a nice, romantic place...well you know, as romantic as you can get with a 7 yr old there with you! I'm so disappointed now! No offense, I'm all about Disney magic and hanging with other Disney people but I don't want to be sitting that close to you while I'm eating my dinner! :lmao: I agree with the PP that said that type of seating just doesn't "fit" that restaurant!

Has anyone been there since they changed the tables? Are you really on top of one another? That would seriously make me not go there! :sad2:

I've eaten there 3 times and have never enjoyed it. Twice was with a big group and someone else chose it, so it wasn't my fault that I went back. I love traditional mexican food, spent a lot of time in mexico and this was nothing close to real or good food. I've heard they changed the menu but not sure. On the upcoming trip we are trying Hacienda so hopefully it will be better.

We loved it...however if you have to share tables there then we wont go back. I enjoyed the romantic feel of it so to share that with strangers? We share at japanese steakhouses and biergarten but just doesnt sound nice there. Hope they change it back.

We just had dinner there the end of May. The change in tables must be very recent because they were still the same then...:confused3 Yes, they are close together but we had our own.
We had a fabulous meal there in August but we were underwhelmed in May. The service was less than great, the food was "meh" - but the atmosphere was wonderful as were the drinks. ;)

It was very recent. You can read Disney's announcement from last week here and see photos of the new tables here.

We have been there for lunch three times and really enjoyed it, the last time the food was alot spicier than the first two times though. The ambiance is very relaxing and the food is pretty good

I have the same entree everytime I go there.. love it! I agree, this is an awesome restaurant jsut for the atmosphere alone. If you request a table by the water, you can watch the ride boats go by.. it's nice and relaxing. enjoy!

I am so disappointed!! We eat here on our first meal at Epcot every trip. Not sure what the hubby is going to think. May be changing this one. We just love the atmosphere here.:sad1:

Oh gosh, I took my brother there last year since he's a total Mexican foodie (he's into authentic and travels to Mexico and enjoys the "real deal") and we LOVED it. The atmosphere was amazing, the service was terrific, and the food was outstanding. If you don't care for spicy, though, be sure to ask your server about the levels of spices. Totally worth going though. :)

Thanks for posting a link to better photos. I nearly cancelled my dinner ADR there thinking it was communal seating.

Does anyone have a link to the new kids menu? I see the new adult menus listed and they sound great. Wondering what changes have been made to the kids menus too. :goodvibes

We dined there last summer and thought it was terrific! We especially loved the Sirloin Relleno and the Pollo a Las Rajas...soooo delicious. The margaritas come from the tequila bar and are all wonderful. I had an avocado margarita that was epic...one of the best cocktails of all time.

If you are intrigued, give it a try, regardless of what others think. Only you can decide what works for your family.

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but there doesn't appear to be one long table, you are not sitting at the same table with strangers. The tables might be too close together, but your aren't exactly dining with strangers. A better pic here, please let me know if I'm wrong:

Wow thank you for posting this! I had pretty much written it off my list and DH wasn't thrilled with it either. This is still a little close for comfort but at least I won't feel like I am dining with strangers! :thumbsup2
