Tell me about San Angel Inn

Went there in Nov. for my Stepmother's bday. My Dad and stepmom are rather meat and potatoes type people but being as it was short notice, it was the only place we could an ADR on-the-fly.

We all enjoyed our meals but, hands-down, the favorite was the Tacos de Cochinita Pibil. We could have just ordered several plates of those! :)

I also had the Mole Poblano which I'd have given 3 1/2 of 5 stars.

And the atmosphere...almost can't be beat. Esp. if you're near the water's edge. And keep your eye on the volcano for the shooting lava that comes out of it once in a while.

The atmosphere is awesome - but, the food was just 'okay' the two times I have eaten there.

Dear Lord, I don't want to be a 'Negative Nancy' but is it really that much work to type out the name of a place, SAI? For a second I thought people were talking about a completely different place! I cringe when I see; "When I am going to WDW I'm staying at SSR and taking a bus to the TTC over to EP to eat at SAI.'' I'm like....really?? Just an observation! :rotfl2:

Everyone has been so nice who has replied to this thread. Was this post really necessary? :confused3:rolleyes:

Thought you all might be interested in this. I have a CM friend who sent me this inof about the changes coming along:

We’re excited about changes coming to the Mexico Pavilion at Epcot that will enhance the guest experience.
We are pleased to announce that the Cantina de San Angel Restaurant, located lagoon-side at the pavilion, will be closed for a significant refurbishment and expansion until fall 2010. Building on its more than 25 years of success in bringing Mexican cuisine to Walt Disney World Guests, San Angel Inn, LLC, will open a new 400-seat waterside restaurant and quick service food location specializing in the freshly baked culinary flavors of Mexico.
During the refurbishment, Guests will still have the opportunity to experience Mexican cuisine from the San Angel Inn Restaurante or La Cava de Tequila located inside the Mexico pavilion, or the Taqueria Del Lago, located alongside the promenade.

We are another family who loves San Angel Inn. For some reason, we perfer lunch to dinner. They have this soup that is just awesome, can't remember the name. It has avacado, tortilla strips and cheese. I normally get the soup and an appetizer and of course, a margarita and I'm set to go! My DS20 always requests we dine here, it is his very favorite!
