Tell me about roku

All Playon does is stream content ON the computer to your device so that you can watch it on the TV and not on the computer screen. So, what you can stream is ONLY what is available online.

I haven't tried discovery but will test it out.

oh,Dawn,one more ? is the content on playon from ,say,discovery channel...is it what's on their website,or is it discovery channel like you'd see on regular cable tv?

We have Time Warner Cable and do have a pretty good connection. I think we get around 20mbps when I go to SpeedTest.net.

I can't comment on the extra space on your computer, we just put it on a brand new computer.

One thing about internet speed though......our basement does NOT get very fast speeds. It is too far from the Router. DH put his office down there so we needed something to help him get his work done.

It has 4 ports so he can hook up his laptop AND we can hook up the Roku. The kids have their Xbox hooked up as well.

That is a good question...Dawn, how good is your computer/dsl? I am concerned mine won't be enough to actually get streaming thru them...I have an older laptop I was going to try setting up and leaving on for that...but the FAQ page says I need 100 GB of extra space to do it,which I surely don't have
Playon looks perfect though,and it even has some of the channels I currently don't get with my cheapo package .....
Anyone have experience with the ps3 and all this? I could start out using the one we have, but I think a Roku looks simpler to use in the long run

We just moved into a new place and haven't signed up for cable/satelite and now this roku has caught my attention. Here's the deal...as of right now, we have one TV. My sons have 2 XBox systems and I know we can stream Netflix on them but as of right now we do not have internet. What exactly do I need for roku and where do you buy it? Also, is Hulu only for a PC? If so, we don't have one so that won't work for us.
