I'm assuming an 8 year old boy who is obsessed with cars would like it :goodvibes What is there to do and see? Does anyone have pictures?? Thanks!

I don't have any pictures and we didn't actually buy anything but we def. checked it out because I think my nephew will enjoy when he comes to visit.

You pretty much "build" and customize a remote control car. Pricing ranges from $40 and up from what I saw. The nicer and the more custom you go the higher prices get. They offer Disney Cars stuff also like Tow-Mater and Lightning McQueen. You choose your model, tires, accessories, decals, etc. Then you go to a little station and put it all together with assistance of a worker. Once you buy everything including batteries, etc I am sure it gets higher in price. It was very cute and looked lots of fun. I was even tempted! ;) They stick it in a little box for you that remind me build a bear but for cars and you're off! Hope that helps a little. Maybe someone else will be able to help you out more. :goodvibes

We took my nephew there for his 9th birthday in August. Was "okay" nothing major.

He built a Ford Mustang with some custom parts, plus the remote chassis, except they were out of stock for the chassis for his car.

We were disappointed but they offered to ship it to us for free once it was available, even though we lived in Canada.

We finally got it in November, but it came with a bill for $50 as well as a customs fee of $35. Gave them a call, and they sent us a cheque for the $85!

Total bill for an average machine was $102 ... took about an hour all together.. he liked it (although you can't play with them anywhere on the resort!!)

It looks like a lot of fun. My DS and DH would love it.

Thanks everyone! It sounds fun but a little pricey! Maabe he would have fun just walking around on the inside, although now I just read its open there for a limited engagement only, I'm wondering if it will even be open when we are there? Thanks again!:goodvibes

Oh neat! I hadn't heard of this before. DS and DH will love this!!

DS 6 done it on our last trip. He LOVED it!! HE still talks about it being one of his favorite things on our trip. He already plans to save some of his birthday money to build another one when we go back in May. He spent around $55 to $60 on his car. They where running a special on the charger and battery pack so I bought that. I would suggest giving him a set amount of money or having it come out of his spending money. This is what we done with DS and he was very careful about what he picked out and how much each piece cost. You can also build a car without making it remote control and it's cheaper.

We did this for my son's 12th birthday when they had it here. It's no longer here though.

It's pretty much "Build-A-Bear" but "Build-A-Car" type of thing (since they are owned by the same people).

Is RideMakerz still in DTD? My mom think it's the coolest thing ever (LOL She wanted a remote controlled helicopter for the holidays). The Disney site says open through fall 2010, but I can't seem to find anything to say for sure if it's there or not!

Thanks!

The kids love it but beware....you can spend a fortune. One of our cars was almost $90:confused3:eek::scared1:

Where in DTD is it? I don't think I've ever seen it before...

My 16 year old son did it in DLR this past summer. He absolutely loved it and had a great time building it. However as others have posted you can spend a lot of money so be careful. His car cost around $65/$70.

Did you ever find out any info? We will be there in April.

Check Ridemakerz website, they'll have a list of all there locations. It's still in CA's DTD. My DS3 had a fantastic time. We went on Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving) and got a fabulous deal, buy one get on free!!! So he built a Lightning McQueen any way he wanted and I picked out parts for a "stock" model. After we got home, the chasis broke at the wheel. I called Ridemakerz cause I couldn't find the part online to order a replacement. The guy said my DS had super skills cause the guy said he STOOD on the chasis and it doesn't brake. He weighed in at over 200lbs!!! I told him how old my DS was, he said "if anyone could brake one of these, it would be a 3 year old. They can brake anything". Then he sent us out a replacement chasis for free.

Does anyone know if this is still located in Downtown Disney. If not what is now in that building?

Idk how to post a pic on here anymore, but we were there in late March 2011 and I made a car. It is my favorite Disney souvenir! I got a stock model w/the remote and added custom wheels and glowing lights for under the chassis. My total was around $65. You can get just the car for pretty cheap, but when you start adding to it, it gets pricey. I think my girls (8 n 10) are still sorry they didn't make one!!

It is still there. We did it about two weeks ago during father's day weekend. They had a buy one get one sale. We got two cars and a few custom parts for about $60. My son is 4 and wasn't into picking the parts out but I enjoyed it! We actually made one to take home to his dad for Fathers day so that they could play with them together. He did enjoy making it and carrying his box around!

The one we bought has lights and sounds but we did not get the remote control part.

He did enjoy it and I can see us going back the next time we go. We went with a friends daughter, age 12, and she loved it and wants to make one for herself the next time that we visit.

It was a little confusing at first and I suggest going in, without kids if possible, to see the set up first so that you know what the drill is. We couldn't figure out what to do first, where different parts were, etc. However, now we know and it will be much easier the next time!!
