Tell me about PVD

I have never flown out of Providence before. What can I expect for ease of security and something decent to eat? (Read no fast food.) We are flying JetBlue. Thanks!

PVD is a great little airport and we always fly out of there. Security has never taken us more then 10-15 minutes. As for food options, there isn't much to choose from.

LOVE flying out of PVD. Like other posters have said, not a ton to choose from regarding food, but it is a very small airport. DS, a friend of his, and I flew out of PVD a couple of years ago on the Friday afternoon just before our February School Vacation week. (busiest time to fly out of the NE). With no exaggeration, we were dropped off at the curb, checked bags, and were through security in under 10 minutes.

I love flying out of PVD! As already mentioned, it's a terrific small airport, very user friendly. Security doesn't take long. But, there really isn't much in the way of available food. It's better than the options at Worcester, but not as good as at Boston Logan!

Thanks all. We are flying on Christmas, which is likely to make food options even harder. Sounds like we should pack a picnic for the plane!

We love PVD, the security lines are usually very short. We love Johnny Rockets so we always make sure to leave enough time to eat there before heading to our gate. The last time we flew out of there was for our 4th of July vacation. The news had reporters at Logan talking about how crowded it was and I was soo glad I chose PVD. I really don't think security was more than 5 minutes (although I obviously planned plenty of time just in case).

Add us to the list of people who prefer PVD over Logan. Just driving into Boston from the south shore can be such a headache. Never had a problem getting through security and parking at the Long term lot is very reasonably priced.

Love PVD...can park the car in the economy lot..hop on the bus and can be in the terminal within 5 minutes...in nice weather have even walked to the parking lot (10 minutes) from baggage claim.
Direct flights to MCO via Jet Blue or Southwest is another advantage. Easy on easy off from 95.

I use Garage C...$72 for a week. It's a short walk to the terminal. You are outside when walking, so plan accordingly.

Sounds like we may use PVD more than once! It is 30 minutes further than BOS to us, however a small airport is so nice. Saving $150 on parking (compared to BOS) is awesome, too! We live close to a small airport, but we can't get direct flights from it. The total travel time is still shorter driving the 3 hours to PVD. Thanks for all the tips!
