Hi guys, Due to a work slow down, dh will be traveling to Puerto Rico for 1 month starting next Monday. He will be working at the local plant there doing inspections. Any info on weather, food, entertainment, Heads up type info all would help a great deal. He is staying at a Co. owned home and will be sharing a vehicle with his housemate.
I will probably be dissing more when he is gone.. I sure will miss him. But he's gotta go where the job sends him.. work is work..

Thanks for your help!
Joan

Joan, I am so jealous!!! I love Puerto Rico:D On this one island you can find a rain forest ( El Yunque) , beautiful beaches, the history of Old San Juan with it's beautiful buildings, palm trees, warm weather, salsa music, merengue music, the Bacardi rum factory, casinos, incredible food, friendly people....... can I go too?:D

All I can say about Puerto Rico is that my oldest DS went there a year ago for a couple of weeks (to play basketball) and absolutely loved it!! Beautiful weather, beautiful beaches!

I'm hoping to see more first-hand accounts too - We are planning a trip in 2004 to visit friends in San Juan & Aquadilla. I have wanted to visit there for years.
Islands magazine did 2 great articles on PR in the last issue - PM me if you want me to mail you a copy - One has the "Best of" listings...

We were there three years ago - in November. Stayed at the El Conquistador Resort and it was fantastic!!!! If it wasn't for the kids at home, and the issue of jobs and money....I could have lived in a little grass shack on the beach and never come back!!;)

I think Barry's gonna want those bongos back!

:p

OH KIM, you silly goose...... ROTFLMAO!!! Isn't it wierd that this temp.job came up today??

For those of you wondering about the Bongo's... I just sent my grandson a Sesame Street Bongo and my dh cracks me up because he LOVED that Toy.. he would dance around the house with it as it played Latin music (sesame street ditties) hollering

"EVERYBODY MAMBO!!"

So I guess now that he will be in PR he will get his chance
to MAMBO!

Thanks for the info folks.. keep it coming..

Are there any places he should avoid??

My DH used to live there and we have a lot of family who lives there still. The weather is usually rather consistant with temps and this time of year ought to be very nice there (70s low to 80s high all the time). The food is different but very good. They use a lot of different spices but nothing is too spicey from what I've had made for me. It is nothing like Mexican food and I must say I love all that I have had made or made myself.

I think there is a certain part of San Juan (the SE side if I recall... DH is in the shower and he'd know) that isn't the best area to be in. But other than that I cannot think of a place that would be bad to go to. Old San Juan, El Morro, El Yunque and beaches on the west coast are places that I'd try to check out if I were there. I hope your husband has a great trip :)
