I especially want to know about the pool. Is there a playground and are there ceiling fans in the rooms? I'm thinking about trying POFQ for the first time. It's me, DH, DD6 and DD3. Are there any activities for the girls? How's the food in the food court?
Thanks for your help.
Oh also, if anybody has a photo of the playground, I'd like to see it. My girls love to play in playgrounds and we especially enjoy themed ones like at CSR.

Here are many pix of POFQ: http://allearsnet.com/acc/g_po.htm

Here's a map of POFQ and POR. You can also walk over to POR (about 10 minutes) and use their pool, and there's a much larger playground there.

Don't think there are ceiling fans--we stayed in POR and didn't have one. Pool is nice, especially for younger children like yours. Food court was really good, but crowded and noisy. We found POR food court bigger, less crowded, less noise. Still, the FQ had some great items in the FC that we walked over to get. You can always go over to the POR for the playground which was big and nice, the pools--main pool was great and quiet pools were always near empty, and the food court which was good, but slow at times. We loved POR and found FQ quite charming to visit. We have older kids, so we will be going back to POR in December.

We did have a ceiling fan in our room. There aren't any specific activities at the resorts but they do have a fun pool and there is a small playground area that is nice for younger kids. The food in the court is good, comparable to any other food court or counter service restaurants :)

Although we were pretty "chummy" in our double bed, we loved staying at POFQ. Even with lots of large groups of folks staying there, you could stroll the grounds and feel like you're the only ones around. No kids with us, so we had a different agenda than you, but we really enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere. The food court was surprisingly good, and we especially liked the boat that took us to Downtown Disney--a nice, quiet time to take in the scenery. The fridge that was included in the room was wonderful for keeping our drinks cold after a long day at the parks. We had a corner room, so we'd just park our car outside our building and walk right up to our room--no walking down miles and miles of corridors to get there! All in all, a lovely experience.

Does anyone know how late the boats run? Just wondering if I would need to take the bus back to the resort. :confused3

POFQ would be an ideal resort for you and your family.

The pool at the FQ is much more themed towards younger kids than older ones. Your girls will love it! There is also a small wading pool and a small playground near the pool complex. At the main registration/food court area there is a nice gift shop next to an arcade. The food court is very nice with a great variety of choices for every taste, young and old. The arcade is no Disney Quest, but is Disney fine.

If a restaurant is your preference, a short stroll or a boat ride (free) up river to the PO Riverside is available. The boats begin running to and from POFQ/POR at about 9:00 am and begin runs to DTD at about 11:00 am. The DTD boats run until about 11:00 pm depending on the time of year you're there. If you miss the last boat, not to worry, buses will take you back to the FQ until around 2:00 am. Also, while visiting POR you can rent surrey bicycles or small boats at their marina. Could make for an exciting adventure for the little ones.

The rooms at POFQ do have fans and, allthough compact, are nice for a family of your size.

The most advantages aspect of POFQ with regards to your family is its size. Very compact with a short 3-5 minute walk from the farthest point to the food court and bus depots. This will be very much appreciated at the end of a park-filled day or during the middle of a nap time when an ice cream treat is needed by one or more persons.

Take into consideration that the "theming" of the resort will appeal to both the adults and kids and you have a Disney resort that very much sounds perfectly geared for a wonderful vacation experience for you and yours.

Hope this helps!

We love the place. It is our favorite moderate resort. The best thing about it is you are close to everything, regardless of what building they assign you. After walking miles and miles at the parks, I appreciate the close proximity to the pool, food court and bus stop when I return.

Also, there is one bus stop at POFQ. When buses are shared with POR, they stop at POFQ first. You always get a seat.

we loved it, I think it is the best moderate by miles. I love the small size - everywhere is close, the theming is gorgeous, the rooms are really comfortable and feel very upmarket, I even liked that the food court was smaller, it seemed easier to find what I needed and much less frantic than the POR one. Also because it was so close to our room, we used it a lot more, at POR & CBR we didn't want to make the walk so we ate elsewhere.

We just got back from our first stay at POFQ and we really enjoyed it. I like it better than CBR because of the smaller size. And the grounds were so well manicured.

My 6 yo DS loved the pool which is nicely themed. Also there was a small playground that he spent some time playing in and enjoyed it. I haven't stayed at CSR, but if you are saying that the playground was themed, I wouldn't say that the one at POFQ is themed.

The food at the food court was okay. It was really convenient so we did go there a couple of times. And in fact one morning when we were just having breakfast bars in the room to get an early start on the parks, I walked over and picked up a milk for DS because it was so convenient to do (if I really had been thinking, i would have grabbed it the night before and put it in the room's fridge -- although then I wouldn't have gotted those yummy beignets :goodvibes )

There was a ceiling fan in the room. Also I liked the two sinks separate from the bathtub and toilet. And the curtain that separates the sinks from the room is a very nice feature too.

Also, it was an easy walk over to POR where we rented a surrey bike one day and went over to see Bob Jackson one evening.

I would definitely consider staying at POFQ again!!

WE LOVE POFQ!!!! It is small and compact. Everything is close. We love the boatride to either POR or DTD. While we've never stayed at any other resort we have visited most of them and I must admit I still like POFQ much better.

As for your questions......Yes there is a playground. It is small though. Not themed. It is located by the pool entrance right by the main building. It's very clean and super nice just a little small.

Yes there are ceiling fans in the rooms. Very nicely decorated rooms too.

You can take a carriage ride, bike or take a short nice walk to POR to Boatwrights resturant there. We've never eaten there but we've heard it is good. The food in the food court is pretty good. the Beinets are wonderful. The burgers and pizza's are pretty good.

Trust me..You will LOVE POFQ they only have 1 bus stop...We've never had to wait very long for a bus....PLUS POFQ is the 1st stop to the parks and the 1st stop back to the resort after a long day at the parks.

Have a great trip :cheer2:

Oh..btw...they have an AMAZING pool. Parts of the pool actually use to be old Mardi Gras floats in NEw Orleans!!!!

Thanks everyone. You all have been really helpful. It sounds like being close to everything would be realy nice as my 3 yr old likes to be carried or strolled rather than walking. If anybody else has any info, please share.

We "moved up" from the All-Stars for this trip, and after reading a lot of information on this board we picked POFQ.

The resort is smaller than POR, but easily walkable. We were in Building 2, third floor, poolside, near the boat dock. Not noticably noisy at any time of the day or night.

Rooms have a ceiling fan, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, and a dual bathroom sinks in a dressing room behind a curtain, a feature we really liked.

Pool has a nice water slide and is laid out so that you can get away from the slide if you just want a leisurely swim or soak.

there is a hot tub behind the poolside bar, and a jungle gym/playground in Mardi Gras colors behind the laundry room.

Food court was typical, but did have beignets every morning and some New Orleans style foods for dinner.

CM's were very attentive and friendly.

Walking to POR takes about 15 minutes. At POR you can rent bikes, surrey bikes (four people), boats, and get an evening carriage ride around both resorts (another feature we liked).

There is a launch that rund to Downtown Disney every 10 minutes after 4 PM, about every 20 minutes before 4 PM.

Had dinner at Boatwrights in POR one night and was pleasantly pleased with the quality, service, and atmosphere.

Magical Express can get you boarding passes at the hotel when you leave, so you don't worry about the luggage and go straight thru security to the gate.

We'd stay at POFQW again

we are arriving on nov.26thru dec3 what are the crowds going to be like?
heard all resorts are sold out . we were hopeing crowds wuld be less after thanksgiving

I heard there was live music in Scat Cat's lounge, a sax player. Does anyone know if he's still there?

I'm really getting excited now :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
I read on a post some time ago about a Mardi gras Parde going through POFQ. Is this a regular event, or only for the holidays or something? Just curious.

Ok now what building do you recommend for my family. Non smokers with allergies to smoke. Two DDs 6 and 3, me and DH. We probably won't eat many meals in the food court. The girls like to play in the pools and playgrounds. We'll often come back to the room for an afternoon nap. We're just looking to get a standard room.
Thanks.

We requested and received Building 5. We thought it was a great location. Building 5 is non-smoking and right next to the pool. Yet it was a close walk to the main building where guest services and the food court is. And even if you don't eat meals in the food court, it can be handy for grabbing milk for the kids. And the bus stop was not far either.

Although I have read that really, even from the farther buildings it's still not a far walk to anything.

If I remember correctly, buildings 2 and 4 are the smoking buildings, so those are the ones you don't want.

I would also reccommend building 5. It perfectly located close to everything. The above poster is correct..even if you are in the farther buildings the walk isn't bad.

Yes..as of May the Sax player was still in Scat Cats in the evening.

I've never heard anything about a parade going through though.

Have a great trip!
