Hi everyone - my husband and I would really like to plan a trip to Nashvile next year. I'd like any thoughts or opinions on best time of year to go - accomodations - things to see -etc. We are both Country Music fans.

Thanks much.....

It's been about ten years since I went but here goes:

Went to the Grand Ole Opry both nights--late show. Sent a note to Ricky Skaggs before one show and he did get it--he mentioned it during his act. Loved the Country Music Hall of fame. Did the general jackson and it was ok but I wouldn't repeat it. Had to have a beer at Tootsie's. Loved the Ryman Auditorium. Had dinner twice at a spagetti place--The Spagetti Factory? Opryland Hotel was beautiful--stay there if you can. Did a tour on music row. Went out to The Hermitage (Jackson's home) and it was a great tour. I understand a tornado or something went through there a few years later so not sure what it is like now. Also ate at Hard Rock.

What I found out (and didn't know beforehand) was the the Opry, Opryland Hotel and Gen. Jackson are not actually "in town". We stayed "in town" and had to drive out to them. Not too far of a drive but I wasn't expecting it.

Go to Nashville in late April or early May. It should be very nice at that time of the year.

Take some time to check out all of the small clubs down on Broadway Street downtown. Just walk down the sidewalk and go into any place you hear music. The artists are usually unpaid and trying to be discovered.

I really enjoy Nashville even though I am not a country music fan.

I picked Nashville for my family trip as my graduation present from my mom. We had a blast. Country Music Hall of Fame is a must! As well as the Opry of course. We stayed at the hotel across the street from the Opryland Hotel and it was nice. Much cheaper than the other one and had a bus that went across to it. I can't remember the name but if you are interested I can ask my mom. My favorite thing was the Nash Trash tour. Probably one of the funniest things ever in my life. My mom and brother and I almost cried we were laughing so much. Definately recommend that. We were there in June and the crowds weren't too bad. We went after Fan Fair though so I can imagine if you went at that time you'd have a little different experience.

You asked about Nashville, so I'm off topic. But, check Branson, Mo websites. Their country music shows are fantastic. (Just in case Nashville isn't a for sure). :)

Just went this June. DD was at Bonnaroo in Manchester so we wanted to stay close by.

Stayed at the Opryland Hotel upon advice from here. Great Choice!! We Did all the things mentioned, but just walking around in downtown Nashville at night was the best.

Just there a few weeks ago. Stayed at the Lowes Vanderbuilt, and highly recommend. It's close to everything mentioned that you would want to see (Broadway), aside from Grand Ole Opry/Opry Mills Mall. As someone else mentioned, these attractions are not in DT Nashville. Gaylord Opryland hotel is ok, not nearly as nice as the Lowes. However, there are many more things to do at the hotel if you choose Gaylord.
