I've heard that Mythos was voted best theme park restaurant. Can someone tell me what's so good about it? How is the food? What's your favorite dish? What is the interior like? Does anyone have pictures of the food? Thanks

Voted best theme park restaurant for the past 6 years!!

The outside is well themed.
The inside is well themed and very impressive.
The food is fine dining quality at a very reasonable price.
Many locals that are annual pass holders are regulars and some non-pass holders use the dining pass feature just to enjoy the food and atmosphere of this place.

Button Mushroom Brioche is an appetizer that by itself makes eating at MYTHOS worth it.

The rissoto of the day is a chef creation that has never disappointed me. It changes monthly or weekly or daily depending on what fresh or in season items are available.

The Chicken a La Oscar is nothing short of fantastic.

The Pork with Pistachio/Blue Cheese/Blueberries sounds odd but is a flavorful delight.

The Corvina was the first dish i ever ate at MYTHOS and was what kept me coming back. It went away for a while and it is now back.

Chocolate Banana "gooey" Cake. The only true dessert that remains. It was brought back after enough of us complained about the "test tube" desserts only being available. It is also worth the visit.

Chef Mark, Kelly, Ellen, Bonnie, Kitty, John, Vinney, Robert, Liann, Marian and many others all make this place a special one that is not duplicated within the "theme park itself" at any other location anywhere. :cool2:

we went last year the day before Thanksgiving and loved it. The decor was beautiful, the service outstanding. I remember the children ordering sandwiches and they were too well presented and the children were afraid to eat them. Hubby and I had entrees but can't remember what they were but they tasted great.

Simply put, the food is outstanding for a theme park restaurant. My wife and I ate there 2 years ago were floored with how the good the food was and that was just lunch.

It's in The Lost Continent section of IOA opposite Poseidon's Fury.

Enjoy!

favorite dishes:
Rissotto of the day
Pad Tai
Lobster stuffed potato (if they still have it)
Gnocchi... wish they would bring it back
Orential chicken salad

Both sound great. I hope both items are still on the menu when we finally get to go back.

we thought mythos was a must do, because of this board. great theming, but to be honest, i dont even remember the food. we are not adventurous food eaters at theme parks, so all the foods listed on this thread, we would not even consider. the food was good, and we may go there again, because of all the hype.

We have been every year for lunch 4 years running. We never miss it. It pleases everyone in our family from my youngest son to my mother. The service is fantastic, the atmo is cool and quite and unique, and you can see bright sunshine and park attractions out the window over the lagoon.

I don't think the food is memorable the way a visit to Cali Grill or Citricos for dinner is (actually, even they are not always memorable), but for a theme park meal it is terrific. Fresh unique salads, burgers cooked to perfection, unusual appetizers and drinks. We love it!

we are not adventurous food eaters at theme parks,
Then Mythos may not be for you.

OTOH, the most popular item on the menu is the cheeseburger! But I've never tried it. Maybe sometime after I've eaten there five days in a row.

I usually find myself going for the risotto of the day, which has never failed to be fabulous.

I agree. :)

I don't think I've ever had risotto. What is it and what be in Mythos' risotto of the day? Is there meat in it?

Risotto is basically a high starch short grain rice that is cooked wth broth slowly and stirred constantly so that the starch/broth forms a sauce for the rice.

As far as I know all the rissotos at Mythos have meat. However I bet if you contacted them ahead of time they could come up with a vegetarian option

oh as for what is in it
I've had several variations at Mythos, usually chicken, but sometimes shrimp.
The chicken is usualy a boneless breast stuffed with or rolled around a filling.
The first one I had I believe was stuffed with roasted red peppers (maybe pesto too). I know that around the rissoto was baby squash.

I've had a chicken spinach and tomato one that is very good, and I believe a shrimp one that was similar to the shrimp on rosemary skewers that used to come with the gnocchi.

DH and I want to try Mytho's next trip...do they take advance reservations or is it walk up only? ( we are not staying at a Universal resort if that matters)

I talked with Kelly (the asst mgr) this weekend while enjoying the Brioche' and a special Asian Stir-Fry dish. Mythos has finally persuaded Universal to put on the map, that Mythos was voted the best theme park restuarant and the the years it won the award. She said people mave been noticing this new info on the map and it has increased traffic significantly. They have also been asking customers why they chose MYTHOS and A LOT have been mentioning the blurp on the map as the reason. In the future i would make seating arraingments in advance at MYTHOS.

The Asain Stir-Fry was loaded with tender beef strips and was very good. The little red sauce "squiggle" on the lip of the bowl is a hot sauce. Not bad totally mixed into the stir-fry but by itself was something i wish i had not done. :cool2:

I think you're right about this. We had lunch at Mythos this afternoon and it was hopping. My husband mentioned that he couldn't remember it being this busy at lunchtime.

It was our favorite meal of out first trip in July
The decor, the food , and the price made it the best

I've almost always gotten the Risotto of the Day. Unless, we go multiple times per trip. Then I'll try something different. Everything I've had there has been excellent!

It's just such great food for such a reasonable price! 2 people can eat a meal, an app. and a desert for around $50 with an AP discount.

But, I recommend being a little daring and try something besides a cheeseburger or pizza (this is for the non-adventurous poster). I doubt you'll be displeased. Unless you have a food allergy, of course.
