We are going to Disney October 7-12. We always go in the summer but decided this year we wanted to try the fall. Needless to say we have never been to the MNSSHP and really know nothing about it.

Tell me all about it and specifics. For example....is Magic Kingdom only open at a certain time on the dates of the party, when should we buy our tickets, etc. I am MNSSHP dumb, so fill me in one everything.

We went last year & thought that is was more crowded than during the day. They seemed to have a hard time getting other people out of the park.

It isn't stopping us from going again this year. We are Disney suckers.

They give out the good candy (name brand choc) at the candy stations. Some of the lines were long early on, but thinned out a lot later on.

The firework show was great but different. I still love my Wishes the most.

Lots of people (entire famlies) in costume. My DS was Peter Pan, DD was Tink, I was Wendy, & we managed to get a t-shirt w/ Hook on my DH. My kids will not know about this trip until we are at the airport in Orlando, so I'm just doing general halloween outfits this year. Easier to pack w/o them noticing.

It is open until really late (like 1am). It is crowded at 1st, so walk around & enjoy. Save your big rides for last. You will be able to just walk on again & again after 11pm or so. You may want to take a little nap during the day to stay late in the park.

We went in 2005, so it has been a while. It was our first trip with the kiddos. The park was less crowded when we went and we saw many characters that are not normally out. ALL 7 dwarfs were walking around with snow white. The whole Alice crowd was there..the white rabbit, the cards, the queen. The parade and Hallowishes were awesome and the candy was great!

It was really hot and the kids took off their costumes within an hour or 2. We haven't gone back because we can't see spending the extra money just for the evening, but we have great memories of it!

I have been twice, also to MVMCP twice and the Pirate & Princess party. The after hour parties are lots of fun but they aren't cheap. It is a fun atmosphere, the parade is so cool with the headless horseman and HalloWishes is great too. There are also fun characters out that you don't normally see. BUT....if I were to do another after hours party again I would only buy my tickets once I got to WDW. I would want to make sure the weather was going to nice enough to make it worth the cost and if the party was sold out I wouldn't want to go anyways.

Here is the link to my last TR when we went to MNSSHP. The MNSSHP review starts on page 15.

It was seriously the best money we have ever spent at Disney. We planned a whole trip this year just to go to the party!

What I will do different this year though:

We will get to the park at 4pm when they let you in

From 4-7 we will ride any rides DD wants to ride and eat dinner.

We will NOT waste valuable party time doing these things. We missed a lot of things last year riding rides during the party. The only must do ride during the party is Haunted Mansion because they have the characters come to life outside and there is a really cool photo op with the carriage.

I second getting there at 4:00pm, two years ago we had dinner reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern at 4:00, then we were off to ride rides. We love the parades, the headless horseman at the beginning of the parade is awesome. Check out youtube for some videos of the parade, very cool. There are lots of photo ops around the park and fun dance parties with the characters and shows. We will be going again this year, can't wait !!!! Totally worth the money in my opinion !!

We have been to MNSSHP also. We went in 2007. We all dressed up in costumes. I was belle in the blue dress, dd was tink, ds was Buzz and dh was captain Jack. We had a great time. We ate at crystal palace before the party. It was tons of fun and we got loads of candy! I also wrote a TR. I used shutterfly for my pictures and they since shrunk to teeny tiny size. I will post the link anyway.

We went last year on the first night they offered it. We had a WONDERFUL time, even with several of us just getting over a stomach bug (and DD wasn't quite to that point yet!) My TR is linked in my sig. - feel free to take a look. We've said over and over we'd love to go back for one, but it won't be for a while, since I'm back to work and would now have to take time off during the school year. I think it's well worth the money!

I agree - head to the MK right at 4, ride the rides/grab a quick bite to eat, and then enjoy the party activities. The parade and the fireworks are first rate! We missed the Villian's Mix & Mingle (one of the reasons we've said we need to go back!) and the dance parties, but I've heard they're great, too. The MK decorated for Halloween, and all the CMs in their costumes, made for a great atmosphere. Enjoy! :goodvibes

Thanks everyone.

Do you all buy your tickets in advance or wait until you get there to see the weather forecast? Does it usually sell out?

Nights in October start selling out in August according to Disney. We buy our tickets ahead of time to avoid it. We went to a party in Sept last year and it was nowhere near sold out but it was one less thing to worry about when we were down there.

I'm ordering our tickets for Oct 1st tomorrow & paying off the rest of the trip. I can't wait until ADR time.
