Hello in there! I am considering taking the kids to Mickeys Backyard BBQ during our next trip in May 09. Last year we just loved the HDDR so it is hard not to go back and choose MBB. Please tell me your experiences with MBB. Is it true that is only runs Thursday through Sat beginning at 6:30? If we go to MBB I would like to coordinate it with Chip and Dales Campfire Singalong. I am not sure what time that begins. I will have to do some searching for it . :surfweb: If anyone out there knows please let me know. Anyway any feedback good or bad would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!:thumbsup2

My friend just came back last week and went to Mickey's BBQ..she was not impressed! actually she didn't like it...her kids are 10, 7 and 4...she said is was very poorly run and The food was not good..the food offered was~

BBQ Chicken..the only thing they liked
spareribs
Hamburgers..no one liked them
Hotdogs
Mac and Cheese
beans
corn on the cob
potato salad

watermelon
Ice cream
Beer and wine were included (bud light) it made it better

The characters~ Chip and Dale, Mickey and Minnie and Goofy

They ended up leaving early because it was chaotic...not worth 2 TS..

I went 4 years ago with 2 boys, 13 and 9. We LOVED it! BUT, we are a very casual family. There is live music and line dancing for anyone who wants to participate. Some dances were led by the characters and there is autograph and picture time too. I didnt dance, but my 9 year old ventured out onto the floor. I enjoyed watching him have fun and loved watching other adults learn how to dance (some could not do even the simpliest of steps..very funny to watch!!) The band was great playing country music..not something you hear around Boston, or even the rest of DISNEY too often.

The dinner was buffet style described by poster above...cooking in bulk, these were not gourmet burgers! You sit at very large picnic tables with other families (unless you have about 25 people with you). Another thing I liked was being able to talk to other people other than my family for a little while. After 5 - 6 days being there, new conversation was nice! I would go back in a flash (actually, I am in Nov). Very relaxing, fun entertainment...fair quality, but edible food.

With that being said...
My very la-dee-da sister would have hated it! She would never participate, and watching other people make fools of themselves is just plain stupid to her. She would not be caught dead eating a burger that came out of a box in patty form and would get annoyed at kids sitting at her table if they were not perfectly mannered. And country music....gag her with a spoon!!!

All depends on what kind of person you are!

We did not enjoy it. My DGD preferred the characters to come to her and this is not how the BBQ works. If kids enjoy the frenetic party atmosphere they will like this. If they are shy or reserved like my DGD they may feel intimidated by the chaotic feel of this meal.

I enjoyed the food, it was what I was expecting. My DGD loved the ice cream treats at the end of the meal and even though she could have had as much as she liked during our trip they tasted better here. The characters are approachable and they are out a lot. There is a little show that is nice as well.

I suggest that if you want to go to this meal plan on arriving early. Seating is first come first seated, if you have little ones you may not like sitting at teh edge of the pavilion.

I cannot remember what the time frames were for getting to the sing-a-long from the BBQ, but found that we could not do it. If you head to the Camping forum the folks there will be very helpful.

We did the BBQ in April and my kids loved it. If your kids are shy the may not enjoy it as much. My kids (12,9 & 3) love to sing and dance so they had a ball. The first time the characters came out to dance they were swarmed with kids but after that the kids kind of get used to them being there and its not so bad. By the time the night was through my kids had chip N dale pretty much to themselves. People start leaving after a while. the characters aso come around to every table for pictures and autographs. The food was just ok!

The show and the food is Ok

What bothered us was the All you can drink BEER Several people didn't know when to say when and had to be escorted out.

I can still hear the kids ask "Why are those people fighting"

Maybe this was an isolated ocurance but my son still talks about it.
