Tell me about Member Updates?

When and where? How long do they last and what kind of info is provided? Is it worth time out of your vacation? Interesting info or just a push to add on?
Is this where people pick up little DVC goodies sometimes?
Wondering if I should check out a meeting next trip.

Tuesdays at OKW, Thursdays at BWV. 8:00 AM and last about an hour.

Coffee, juice, and danish are complimentary.

Mostly a slide show of ways to use your DVC points within and outside the DVC resorts. Not really a sales pitch. Informative if you've never been to one but after attending a number of them it'll start to appear repetitive.

Depending on who's giving it, you may get more or less information about what's happening within DVC. Things like OKW slide info, or SSR info, etc.

They usually ask some DVC trivia questions and award prizes for answers. Prizes vary such as hats, pins, fanny pack, etc. Typically a dozen or so prizes are given out each meeting.

Trivia questions might be along the lines as What is the name of the water slide at the HH resort, ("Big Dipper"), or the swimming pool at Beach Club ("Stormalong Bay"). Some questions are easy, some harder.

If you've never been to one, it's worth going to see.

hi, i suggest getting there EARLY as early as possible before the 8am start. it was standing room only, people out the door. Also, they did not have enough packets, goodies and forms for everyone to be included in the in the drawing (to get more goodies). Good information I thought.

Just a suggestion. I went to one at BWV in March.

I've not attended one of these either. Where do the meetings take place (specifically interested in BWV)? And I guess the information is in our member packet when we check in?

The BVW meet was at the quiet pool meeting hall. I was notified with a message on my phone (i believe) and also with a note in the packet given to me upon check-in. I would check it out especially if you have not been to one! I just checked ebay and now I see where some of those goodies go!

Are these every week? Thanks everyone for the info. I think I'll sneak out one morning and go and let the rest sleep in. If I own at BCV, but I'm staying at BWV can I just go to that one , does it make any difference? All the meetings cover the same topics for the most part?

They are every week Shannon. You can go to any one or both the same week if you would like, it doesn't matter which resort you own at.
Both meetings cover the same topics and have question and answer periods.

Yes they are held every week. You can go to either member update no matter where you are staying. We went to 3 (2 at OKW and 1 at BWV) when we were there for 8 dyas in early March. The new format-more member informationa and less sales is nice.
Yes get there early. All 3 sessions were packed. If you are not staying at OKW or BWV and have a car just keep your parking pass in the window and tell the security guard that you are going to the member update. We were able to valet park at BWV with no charge just a tip for the valet.
My only question (which I forgot to ask) is will there be an additional member update at SSR because they will have a Community Hall or will they have an update replacing one of the current ones?
No more trivia questions for 'prizes' just a drawing. Go to one and try it. I found all 3 this visit to be informative and each one had a bit more information than the last.
