Tell me about leg waxing

Well, I think most of you convinced me NOT to have my legs waxed. I will deal with the shaving. The hair on my legs is light and is getting very sparse so I thought that maybe if I had it done it wouldn't grow back at all:lmao: Thanks for the replies.

One thing......
IT HURTS!!!!!

Just don't do it..... I did it once, NEVER again....

OMG! That is so funny. I opened this to say the very same thing but you said it BIGGER and REDDER!:rotfl::lmao:

I agree. It hurts a lot. ESPECIALLY the ankles. Now, the woman who did mine wasn't very good. She ended up using tweezers and then still missed a ton. Waste of money. It took her over an hour to do the half leg.

But, I've had my eyebrows waxed and that didn't bother me at all. It seems the more fleshy it is, the less it hurts.

I'd try it again but it's summer and who wants to let their leg hair grow that much when you're wearing shorts. I'm no hairy crunchy granola hippy. lol

Seriously! :rotfl: I was considering getting a bikini wax but after this thread, no thanks!

I tried to wax my legs when I was a teen. I heated the wax and laid strips on my entire leg. I didn't read the directions to know you do them one at a time. I had both of my entire legs covered in hardened wax cloth strips . I would not rip them off so I spent pretty much the entire day (and most of the wax stayed on for weeks) soaking the wax in hot water to remove the strips.

had a brazilian once...one time!!!! It hurt like a BEEEEEEPPPP!!!!! I took a valium and Aleve. the underneath part did not hurt, the upper part next to your tummy and thighs - OMG!!!!! I could have died. Loved it, but never again....I don't think. My hairdresser warned me...laughing at the thought...he is the one that recommended Valium - i didn't help.

I am, or rather I want to be. I enjoy fall and winter (and much of spring) here when I can let my legs go all furry, but then I always end up shaving again b/c of peer pressure. Ugh at self.

Twice now, I have waxed my own legs. Lower and just above my knees. Used the Nads brand strips. First time, I had the pre-treating stuff and I had the post-wax stuff as well. Second time those things were gone.

I have a rather LOW tolerance to pain. So it was VERY surprising that I was able to finish the first waxing job, and two years later do it AGAIN!

I've also had my eyebrows done. I naturally have very Brooke Shields type of eyebrows, and I've had them waxed twice, and they just do NOT grow in like that anymore. It's actually sad...in retrospect, I look much better with the thicker eyebrows, and I miss them. :(

They hair grows back finer? Where did you hear that tall tale? Maybe it depends on the person. If I waxed it would be no different than shaving for me. I am hairy.

I am sure it hurts like hell. :lmao:

So have you done it? I call my legs Sasquatch when I go furry for the colder months. Quite a lot of leg hair. (and so warm...sigh...I hate Summer!)

As I said, I've waxed my lower legs twice, and especially since the second time, the difference is astonishing. Much much finer, not as thick.

Since I've only done the lower leg, I still have my upper legs to compare, and the difference is amazing.

Can't guarantee it for everyone, but it certainly HAS worked for me (though it hasn't been a *wanted* side effect).

I can't stand the waiting for it to grow back between waxes. I can't stand to have hair on my legs that I can feel. So, I stopped waxing and just shave.

The waxing wasn't so bad, but the plucking drove me nuts. My waxer gal was a perfectionist and would literally pluck out the missed hairs and dig out anything that even looked ingrowing.. :scared1:

But, I will NEVER be threaded again!!! What the what was I thinking?

I have had my (lower) legs waxed for a few years now. I do it myself now. SO clean and convenient. If I had the time, $$, and access to an aesthetician that I felt confident with, I would have them done. Pain is worse the first time.
After a Brazialian, all pain pales by comparison ;-) Really, the lower legs are not painfel after the first time or two!

I had my lower legs waxed and it really didn't hurt much at all. My sister had her both of her entire legs waxed and she said it hurt & was never doing it again. Different pain tolerance, I guess. I'd do it again but I'm just not keen on spending $30 for another appointment.

I have had full leg waxes several times and I never thought it hurt that bad. I always take some Advil about an hour before hand and I get it done by an esthetician at a local salon. It takes about 45 minutes but then you get to go weeks without shaving :thumbsup2

i actually really like it and would do it more often but i'm taking pre-natals and they make my hair GROW! When I'm going on vacation I still do a modified brazillian and full leg, underarm and lip. The most uncomfortable part is the lip for me to be honest. It's not too bad. I wish I could go back to it to be honest. . . :)

Shaving my legs doesn't bother me but I have very fine hair and none above my knees. I am trying to get the nerve up to get a Brazilian:scared1: My bf swears by them and says it's not too bad after the first time. I would love to get laser removal for my underarms and bikini but it's expensive.

I've never had my legs waxed, but I've done my underarms once and get brazilian waxes regularly. The underarms were a little worse because my esthetician uses strip wax there (never use that for a bikini area wax--people use it because it's cheap, but it doesn't do an adequate job and it's supposed to hurt like hell).

First time I ever had a brazilian, I was shaking I was so scared. I tried to find some vicodin so I could go in zoned out, but didn't try too hard and just took some Tylonel. It was all for nothing though because with a skilled waxer, it just doesn't hurt that bad. Hot wax, wait for it to harden, breath and rip, cold damp towel. Rinse and repeat. I would imagine legs would be very similar, but I've never wanted to put my money there since I only have to shave about once a week.

I love getting my legs waxed! I don't know if I have a higher than normal pain tolerance but it honestly doesn't do much worse than sting a little. And afterwards my legs feel so smooth -- no razor stubble. My DH gave me a spa gift certificate a few years ago so that's how I got started. Now I have a friend who has a small salon in her house and she does my legs (half leg), underarms, brows and upper lip and only charges $20 for the whole thing. I usually go a couple of times over the summer and that's it. The hair on my legs is so sparse and fine now that it's almost invisible -- pulling the hair out this way damages the hair follicles, so it does eventually change the way the hair grows. I've also noticed that my underarms don't itch the way they used to do when I shaved and the hair would start to grow back.
