We've never been, but found coupons in the paper. I may want to go there for my birthday dinner in a couple weeks. How's the food and what do they have for non seafood lovers (DH)?

The food is awesome!! At least the one in Texas is! They also have pasta dishes and some different salads. My kids love to go there. When things get busy they will stop and dance to songs like Working at the care wash, and more "oldies". If you go on your birthday they make you do crazy things like run around while they sing to you. All in all it's really a fun place to go to! :thumbsup2

We thought it was "OK". We weren't thrilled with the food or the atmosphere, and our service was very slow. We went once and didn't go back. We thought the menu was really limited if you didn't want crab.

My son and I went to one in Pittsburgh during a "guys weekend." It was okay, but it wasn't anything special. The food was decent but I didn't exactly feel like I got my money's worth. In my opinion, it's not as good as Red Lobster and it's definately as casual as you can get... We have one which opened two miles from my house. I haven't bothered eating there and doubt that I ever will...

I am allergic to shellfish, DH loves crab so we go for him. I like regular fish and they have some very good stuff, a couple types of fish and chips, salmon and mahi dishes that are very good. They also make a great steak, and the rolls are wonderful. If you DH likes some seafood or a good steak this would be a good choice for him. I believe you can check out their menu on the web - maybe have him take a look before you go? And know, they always have "fresh" selections too.

My family loves Joe's Crabshack. They have an outside playground for kids to play on while they wait for the food to come (Get an outside table so you can watch them if your kids are still small). The decor is fun, there is lots to look at. I don't like seafood, so I always get the rosemary chicken, which is really good. I think they have steaks there too.

On my DH's birthday, they put him in a hula outfit and made him dance the hula while everyone else sang Happy Birthday. I thought they would give out a birthday dessert but they don't.

We like Joe's. They have a little bit of everything there. Honestly though, we'd go to Red Lobster first.

Let's just say "been there, done that, no desire to do it again".

I like Joe's Crab Shack, but I love Dirty Dicks better.

Before a mod looks at that and goes :scared1: It really is a real resturant and there is a few in NC. I go to the one in Nags Head I even have a t-shirt that says "I got my crabs from Dirty Dicks" ;)

I swear I never wear it in public

We love to Eat at Joe's. It's nice and loud so nobody can complain about the kids. ;) I don't eat seafood, but I love the chopped salad. A nice evening is sitting on the porch having a drink while the kids play in the play area. Good times........

They have great fish and chips and a nice sliced salad that we split. Just be aware that it is VERY loud. My dh and I would rather eat outside (quieter) and go once or twice a year when we are in Orlando.

It's a fun atmosphere. The decor varies. Ours is done in retro games and toys. Fun to look at all of it. The wait staff here dances and crazy stuff like that. It is really loud.

I can't really comment on the menu much. The only seafood I've ever had there was the shrimp and it was good. DD hates all seafood, and she always finds something she'd want.

I agree. The ones here are a step above Long John Silver's and a step below Red Lobster. Definitely nothing to write home about.

I've never tried Joe's yet but I think they are owned by the same people that own Rainforest Cafe. I have the RC discount card and it's good for Joe's as well. I've been tempted to try it but I'm not so sure now with the mixed reviews. How's the pricing compared to RC?

I have been to Joe's once and it was a fun place to go to. The atmosphere is great and a lot of fun but their food is not all that great. They do have dishes that aren't seafood for Jerry. I would go again with a group for the atmosphere but never just for the food.

Wow I am in the minority here.

Joes is way better to me then Red Lobster. It's cheaper in price, a funner atmosphere, and better food.

Red Lobster is nice if you want a "NICE" evening out or what not, but the food is average just like Joe's. There is not 1 thing at RL I would recommend over Joe's.

My kids love Joe's even more than I do and my oldest HATES seafood, and loves going there still.

I have been wanting to try Joe's. I would smack somebody upside the head for some crab legs-lol. :rotfl2: After a couple days in hospital after having DD, I had DH at the time, to bring me some crab legs.

We've gone a couple of times when I really want crablegs. The last time we tried to go was last year...we'll never go back. The service was AWFUL! Our food took forever to arrive...not that big of a deal because we didn't have DS with us. When it arrived, DH's was NOT what he ordered...not even close. So, they bring both back. I also told her to bring mine back, too, because I wasn't going to sit and eat while DH waited for his food and I didn't want mine to get cold. A while later, the waitress returns with the SAME plates, and asks if DH wants to "eat on this" until is correct food is ready. Um, NO! Plus, my plate of food was obviously just stuck under a heat lamp because the plastic cup they put butter in was melted! She took them back again. A while later, we still didn't have our food. We asked the waitress and she said they were still working on it. That was the last straw...we got up and left. Never again will we go back. And I'm so sad because I really do like crab legs!

I like Red Lobster over Joe's. Joe's food has alot of greasy, spicy junk on it. Not too much is my taste.

Hmmm. I wonder if Joes is one of those chains that it really depends on the individual restaurant? Ours is WAY better than Red Lobster. More fun, more interesting food, etc.
