I am researching TS meals for ADRs. I looked on Allears but it doesn't say much about what is there. I would like a better description of the food there and opinions on what it is like.

TIA

It's a buffet, all you can eat with all kinds of differant selections, I liked it, Had no problem with anything. some people that are too picky say bad things about H&V, I will go back to it without worry. :thumbsup2

My DH and 15 year old DD went last summer for Lunch and it was the fav of their trip. DS & I went to SciFi insted.

They loved the food selection and found it clean, and fairly quiet for a Dis restaraunt. There were characters there at that time and it amused the little ones around them.

It is what you could expect to find at a Ryans, Fire Mtn, Golden Corral or similar buffet. I haven't been to breakfast, only lunch and dinner. My son loves HM characters so we have returned every trip. If you are expecting a fine dining experience you will probably be disappointed.

As PPs have stated it is a buffet, with characters at breakfast and lunch. To say that it gets mixed reviews would be an understatement. While I have no problems with the breakfast, I can say that this is one of only 2 restaurants in all of WDW that we refuse to ever return to. If you do a search you will find other identical threads where the majority of the Disers found the food disappointing, the servers less than magical and the cleanliness questionable.

In short, there are better TS places in DHS- I'd recommend Mama Mia or 50s PTC.

I agree with Minnie Mum. This is one of only 2 restaurants in all of WDW I will never go back to. And I am NOT too picky.
The hot food was not hot, the cold food was not cold, we were surrounded by dirty, unbussed tables and our waitress was rude. The Ladies Room was filthy.
I wouldn't worry about the menu, I would look for somewhere else.

I have dined at Hollywood and Vine many times over the years, and I have never seen the problems listed by so many DISers. I like the atmosphere.

But it is crowded and a buffet. Those don't usually lead to a peaceful experience. And now that all the buffet prices have been raised to $40.00 a person for dinner it is definitely not worth the price.

Even on the best of days, I wouldn't use a dining plan credit on it either. So, I don't recommend it all, but purely based on price. If it was $22.00 a person for dinner, I would pay out of pocket for it. The first couple of times we ate there we paid about $100.00 for a family of four. Now the cost would be almost $200.00. I would rather pay more and eat at Brown Derby.

Went there once for breakfast and loved it, so we went back next trip to try dinner. It quickly made the never again list. Like some of the other posters, only one of two places we won't go and I am not too picky either. How can you be accused of being picky at a buffet I don't know.

Anyway, it was the awful trifecta for us. Food was bad, the place was dirty and the waiter was awful. After he was at the table once he never came back to offer drink refills. Sorry, but at a buffet, that's just plain wrong.

We have eaten there once and have it on our ADR for this trip we're going on. My daughter requested we go here for her Birthday lunch! So it's done. We liked it when we went and didn't experience it being dirty or anything. The food was alright but for my daughter I'll eat there again.

I had no problems with H&V..... I'm "one of the few" LOL

I actually enjoyed the food at H&V Better than HBD... however I will definitely give HBD another shot...in May....

AT DHS I've done H&V about 4x, HBD once, 50's once.....we will visit MM's and Sci Fi in May.....

Here is my 4th visit to H&V's review....

My sister always asks to go to H&V. It is kind of a tradition. Now that her kids are no longer kid priced, we have begun to skip it. But we never had a problem with service, food, or cleanliness.

Ummm nope, we are not too picky, and Yep! We will NOT be back to H & V. The food was lukewarm, waitress...ummm, we had a waitress??? Oh, was she the one that brought our check at the end and suggested what her tip should be? We don't like 50's PT either...we are giving Sci-Fi a shot this time, but if that's yuck, we may opt to just dine outside of DHS from now on.

Thank you everyone for your input. I think like most things in life, what one person loves, another hates or it just depends on the day whether the food and service in a restaurant is good or bad.

Maybe we will just flip a coin to choose our meals. Given the varying experiences at Disney restaurants it's like a crap shoot how it will be! :rotfl:

As breakfast buffets go this is my second fav Boma is my first choice. I've been to Tuskar House, Crystal Palace, Boma, and 1900 Park Fare. To me the food was just better here, not as big of a selection as some of the others, but did taste much better. I love the atmosphere of Crystal Palace, but the food is not that great. Tuskar House is really good, 1900 was O.K. it's just too noisy and chaotic. I've never done a lunch or dinner buffet so I don't know how that is.

I plan on going here again on our next trip.

I sum this place up in two words - Never Again.
This is just my opinion, but I ate at H&V twice and I won't be going back. I wasn't impressed with the selection of food, nor the quality of it. I have also been to Sci-Fi twice and while I enjoyed the atmosphere a lot, again, I wasn't impressed with the food. 50's PT is a place where I truly enjoyed my meal, but I am in no rush to return.

We've done breakfast, and really enjoy it.

Did Fantasmic dinner one time... while the food we did eat wasn't bad at all... just terrible variety for us. I guess we're on the picky side and like more basic stuff.

kids this trip really want to go there again for the characters....but can't fit in a breakfast there (have too many other breakfasts booked!).... so tentatively have lunch booked.... but am thinking may have to ditch it. Can't see what there is that we'd care for and can't see having a meal consisting of rolls and chicken nuggets, for the most part, as nothing else on menu wowing us.

Never had any problems with the restaurant itself or servers or cleanliness....or even quality of the food. It's just the menu offerings we dont' care for.

I think kids love it, but most parents thinks it's mostly "meh". The buffet isn't anything, like was mentioned before, much more special than Golden Corral, etc.

Me and DS just stopped there one afternoon because we were hungry and there was no wait. i thought the Characters were a little annoying...but then I'm not too up on Little Einsteins and accidentally called June, Dora the Explorer :rolleyes1

I was there with my 18 yo son, who's a human garbage disposal, so he had no complaints. :goodvibes
