I am going to be at WDW during two grad nights. (may 5th and 6th) I know that the MK closes at 7 and then the high school seniors have the park for the night. However, does this event have an effect on the crowds during the day? Will there be more people at the parks that week or do they realy just come for the night time? Also, do they stay at disney resorts or off site. Sorry for all the questions, I just want to know what to expect. However I'm going to have a magical vacation either way! :wizard:

Thanks!

I have done many a grad night with HS students (as a Teacher Chaperone) and here is what I can tell you......

All students MUST travel on the bus with the rest of the students. No students were allowed to travel on their own. Many of the grad nights have been after a school day and the rule was that if you miss school that day, you miss the bus (so to speak!)

I wouldn't be worried about it. Students will come with their group and not before.

We will be there for the first 2 Grad nights the end of April. We are staying at the Poly. I have read that it can be very noisy during Grad Nights, disturbing some at the Monorail hotels. Does anyone know if that is true? Are there bands playing? How late is the park open - all night? Do they have fireworks at some point and if so what time are they?
Thanks for your help. I too just want to know what to expect.
TIA

This may or may not be helpful, but I do remember when I went to Grad Night (yeeeears ago!) there were bands playing. We had Samantha Fox, New Kids (I think -- might've been a different boy band, I can't tell them apart) Erasure and others. (Can you guess what year I graduated? :teeth: ) They were playing in different locations throughout the Magic Kingdom. I have no idea if it would've been loud enough to be disturbing to the monorail resorts.

And at that time, we stayed offsite because there was no AllStars or Pop as a lower-budget choice.

Have a wonderful time! I don't think it'll impact your stay too much. I would imagine that maybe, just maybe, that Epcot and MGM might be a little more crowded due to MK closing early?

I went a long time ago :hourglass (try 17 yrs ago). We got there the morning of Grad Nite and spent the day at one of the water parks. We went back to our hotel room (offsite) and got ready for a night of fun. The next day we went to Epcot and left from there. Like I said it was a long time ago but hope it helps. Have fun.

This little trip report is why you will never see my sig under trip reports.
