I will be arriving with some friends on Sat. June 22. She wants to go to Goodings Market in Celebration. How HIGH are the Prices?

We went to Goodings at Cross Roads and walked out! The prices on most items were really high compared to pricing at home - in some cases 3X higher. I'd go elsewhere!!!

Go to Publix on 192!! You can get twice as much there!

The prices at Goodings are rediculous.

There is a Publix located very close to Sea World that we've been using and are very happy with. Their prices are great, and they have a great selection.

OK, where is the Publix on 192?? (Inquiring minds want to know . . . . .:D )

Publix has their own website. I think it's www.publix.com

On that site, you'll find many stores in the Orlando area. You can pick the one that's closest to your hotel.

When in doubt, follow the locals. I was making my one and last stop at the Goodings in Crossroads when I overheard the courtesy clerk tell one of the customers that "None of the locals shop here. It's all tourists." Publix is great - as good of a selection as Goodings and much lower prices. Also, I found a Super Target up near Sea World with a Starbucks in it. Now that's a store! I saw lots of locals shopping there.

There are several Publix stores on 192--if you are going to Celebration anyway there is one almost right there (I can't remember the exact directions but it close to the turn off for Celebration) There is also one at the end of 535 (where 535 and 192 meet) and others.

I honestly felt that Goodings was comparable to my neighborhood grocery stores. It was NOT expensive at all.

(I must live in an expensive area)

In fact some things were LESS then where I live.. so I guess its all relative.

We use both Goodings on the 192 and Publix (far end of 192). I like both. Prices aren't that bad at Goodings IMO although Publix is probably a bit cheaper overall. I like the variety of using both - particularly for takeout meals - Goodings has a much better range than Publix. They also do more 'extras' like kids toys, books etc. The wine department at Publix is pretty good though and they have some very knowledgable staff to chat to aswell. I spent a good 1/2 hour picking out my Xmas/New Year wines with a very helpful Publix employee.
I have heard that the shops at Crossroads are all much pricier but I haven't been up there myself as the ones on the 192 are handier.

I thought Goodings was about the same as what we pay in CT. Not overly expensive for food items, but sundries were expensive.

Goodings prices are outrageous, ridiculous, mind-boggling, and insane.

Publix isn't exactly cheap, either, but looks like it compared to Goodings.

Wal-Mart SuperCenter and Super Target have good prices on groceries.

Thanks for the opinions...I am a PUBLIX Employee, and I know about the prices, but, my friend said she went there a few weeks ago, and liked the variety that they had. (She works for Publix too.) I might go and "see" what it is like, but I will probably not buy anything! :D

Gooding's is expensive. I would try any other supermarket before Gooding's.

I agree with Barry!

We have some of the highest grocery and gas prices in the country in my neck of the woods and Goodings seemed expensive compared to our prices (at least the LBV branch). BTW, how is the Albertson's down there? I read there was one near Sea World? How does it compare with Publix? Is it worth a visit?

Yeah know... There's a Winn DIxie just down the street from Goodings at Cross road. If you go down just past the Olive Garden(heading away from I4) just past the light on the same side as Goodings is a Winn Dixie. The prices are much better and you can even get the discount card that give you extra savings!

I remember a few years ago, the cheap no-name soda was $3.99 for a 12 pack. I think you can get a 12 pack of the brand stuff (Coke or Pepsi) for $3.99 at other places. I've see them go as low as $2.50 each at some places!

The good thing about Gooding's is that it has stuff you can't find anywhere else. However, the prices for the usual stuff is too high for me to walk in there again.

Albertson's has some good prices. I personally like to shop at Publix. It has some good prices and a clean store.

Well Pepsi twelve packs here are usually 4.29/4.69....so Goodings is cheaper!
