I just booked my first trip to the GF - so excited! Can anyone tell me about standard rooms - what are the best requests? any chance for a mk view? also are dormer rooms the same as standard?

The "standard" rooms at the GF are considered "garden view" rooms. These rooms typically offer views of the gardens/landscaping, pool, courtyards, etc. There are a few rooms in Conch Key and Sago Cay that are considered GV, but overlook the marina, so there is a bit of a water view there.

The consensus seems to be that there aren't a lot of "bad" views out there at the GF.

Unfortunately, a view of the Magic Kingdom (theme park view) is a bookable category, and unless you get a free upgrade at check-in, there isn't much of a chance that you will get this view with a garden view room.

The rooms themselves are pretty similar in interior decor, and are the same size, save for the dormer rooms. Dormer rooms can be considered "garden view" - these rooms are on the top floors of the lodge buildings. They have cathedral ceilings, are smaller in square footage (situated under the eaves), and have a solid waist-high balcony rail. Some people find these rooms charming, while others miss the additional floor space and don't like the solid balcony.

For more info., head over to the GF FAQ thread!

THANKS Tinkaroo!

We are checking into the GF on March 29th for 9 nights and we have a Garden View. All your information was very helpful! :)
