If we stay at WL, can we drive over to FW to go the petting farm, pony rides, etc.? If so, could you please tell me about your experience at FW? Is there a cost for admission to the farm or other activities? How do you get to go on a hay ride? Please share any thing else you think I should know about FW!

You would take the boat over from WL to FW. No charge for the petting zoo, etc. But there is a charge I believe for the hayrides. It's alot of fun, one of my favorite places in WDW.

Eating at the Trails End Buffet, the food is GREAT!

Sitting on the rocking chairs having a drink while people watching.

Renting a golf cart and cruising the camping loops.

Going to the Chip N Dale Sing-a-long, staying for a movie.

Looking for the aardvark.

Walking the path between WL and FW, very relaxing.

Our family loved FW!!!

We just got back last night from a 5 night stay in Ft. Wilderness in the Cabins. We had the most fun driving around in the golf cart looking at everyones Halloween decorations. Make reservations for the Hoop de doo revue, its the funniest show and the food is great. The kids loved all the little rabbits that run around in the campground. You can pick up the hayride right at Pioneer hall, if you don't rent a golf cart, you can take the busses anywhere in there. You can rent bikes, fishing poles, go parasailing and rent boats too. I am not sure of the prices but I guess they would be on the Disney website. Theres so much to do there, I wish we had more time when we were there to do everything.

Can anyone go to the Chip & Dale sing-along? If so, what is the cost?

What do you mean looking for the aardvark? Do you mean there is a real one walking around the grounds?

If we walked from WL to FW, how long would it take to get to the petting zoo?

Thanks! Can I just drive my own van around?

The card reader only allows vehicles with Ft. Wilderness IDs encoded on their resort card to enter the loops. The rules state that vehicle traffic is limited to going to and from your campsite.

Ok, there was a section of the allears newsletter where someone reported that the petting zoo was closed. Any truth to that?

The sing-a-long and movie are free to anyone. They even have a fire going and you can buy the items to make s'mores.

Yes, we saw a real aardvark, it was really neat.

As for the walk, we enjoyed it and totally took our time, I believe it was less than 20 minutes.

BTW, the two best things for DD were the horse drawn carriage ride, (was $30 heard it went up by $5) and seeing the horses. She actually got to help wash two of them, she was thrilled with it.

Fort Wilderness takes you away from the hustle of Disney, you can sit on the beach, rent a boat, and actually relax.

I just read that too and was trying to remember where for my post. That is disappointing...I know my family enjoyed it in the past.

If you are staying at WL, take the ferry to Ft. Wilderness.

The Meadowlands Recreation area is only 1/2 mile walk or you can take the bus. Gift shop and snack bar which is open seasonally. The Meadowlands Recreation area is where you will find the Chip-n-Dale sing-along and movie. There is also an arcade and the bike barn ... you can rent golf carts, bikes, fishing poles, canoes, paddleboats (for use in the canals). There is a volleyball court, shuffleboard, tennis court, playground as well as the pool. The pool is off-limits unless you are staying at FW ... not sure about the other things like the tennis courts, etc.

At Pioneer Hall (near the Marina) you will find a gift shop, porch w/ rocking chairs, Crockett's Tavern (pizza/drinks), Trail's End Buffet, Hoop-de-do-Review, wagon rides, carriage rides. This was also where the petting zoo was located ... not sure what is still there. They also stable the horses from the MK there as well. Believe there is still a guest relations window where you can ask questions/buy tickets.

At the marina you can rent water sprites and pontoon boats for use on Bay Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon. You can also sign up for guided fishing trips.

At the Outpost (front of FW ... just a bus ride from the marina/Pioneer Hall) you can go horseback riding. They also have a kennel for pets.

There is a lovely walking trail from WL to FW as well.

Thank you!:worship:

In addition to everything mentioned above there are additional activities at the Meadows Pool. You'll find arts/crafts, pool games, etc. The petting zoo is closed, but the pony rides are still available. DD8 loves the ponies! I believe the cost is only $3 or $4. Of course "adult" horses are available for trail rides, too! Have a great time at WL & FW!

Hi :earsboy:

We are going to Disney in December and I was wondering if the rental canoes and paddleboats etc are only seasonal or all year round?

Do you use the canoes on the canals and can you see any wildlife? Anyone know the approx cost?

Also, what exactly are paddleboats?

Is the petting zoo closed permanently or just for rehab?
