Tell Me About Formal Night....

It's hard to find formal gowns that don't seem to be too "prom". :magnify:

My wife found hers at a bridal shop. The challenge there was to find something that didn't look "20-something bridesmaid" or "mother of the bride/groom." Fortunately, there were some available options that fit the bill.

Regarding photos for "formal night"... we did a Fantasy Cruise a few years ago with my then DS8 and DS6 where all the boys (DH included) wore tuxedos. We had photos in front of the Grand Staircase on the ship. We are leaving for Alaska in August and I am wondering if photos are taken in front of the staircase on the Wonder as well? I didn't get a 30 minute Shutters appointment but I still want those tuxedo photos! :)

For formal night on our 10 day cruise, like other PP have said, it was up and down the scale of formal. I saw men and boys in tuxes and women in full gowns and then in our dining room, I saw people in t-shirts and shorts. This is what my husband and I wore:

He doesn't own a tux and I couldn't fathom renting one plus we wouldn't have had room (our luggage was a little overweight as it was anyway!). Then for semi formal night this is what we wore:

My shoes were supposed to be different. I was going to wear the same ones I wore on formal night but the shoes decided to eat my feet so I couldn't wear them again.

It's really all about what you're comfortable with. If you want a gown and tux, then go for it!
