Tell me about flying on Air Tran?

I've never flown them, but right now, they are looking to be my best bet for May. I like that they have non-stop from PHL, they seem to have a good schedule (I like to fly out early on arrival day and late on departure day). Friends of mine flew them on their return flight last week and said that it felt like the plane was held together with duct tape. That made me nervous.

Any first hand experiences you'd like to share? (we usually fly USair or Southwest from Philly)

We have had no problems with AirTran. The planes we have been on are all new and they are pretty good about departing on time.

We just got back from our 1st WDW trip yesterday and we flew Air Tran. We had no problems what-so-ever. The planes were clean, the crew was friendly and courteous. We left on time for both our trip to Florida and home. We arrived on time, maybe even a bit earlier than we had thought we would. I would fly them again. The rates are good and being able to check-in for your flight 24 hours in advance to get your seat assignments is nice. I was worried that my family (DD 6 and DH) would be split up but that did not happen.
Happy Planning!

We always fly SW non-stop from Buffalo to Orlando, but could only find return from Orlando non-stop on Air Tran when we went in August. Week before, they changed our flight to connecting, and when I called to ask why, she said it was their perogative if they wanted to change flights and times. We ended up getting delayed in Orlando for almost two hours, delayed in Atlanta for half an hour, and getting to Buffalo three hours later. Yuck! Never again - Southwest has never changed a non-stop flight in five years I've travelled with them to a connecting flight.

We flew Airtran from PHL to MCO last Feb., and have booked them again for this coming Jan. I was very pleased with their service and our flights were on time. In the past we liked to fly with Spirit out of ACY because we hate PHL, but Spirit's rates haven't been as much of a bargain lately. We also have had nothing but good experiences with them, now if they would just lower their prices!

Just got back from WDW and flew Airtran without any problems - left on time and arrived a little early both ways. Only hitch we ran into was that they changed the flight time of our return flight by an hour. Luckily we just happened to call with a question and they ran through the schedule with us. Wouldn't have messed us up too much but would have had our ride waiting an extra hour to pick us up.

Maybe this will make you feel better...

My husband works for the FAA. (Federal aviation administration) He is an air traffic controller. They are flying tomorrow on AirTran from Boston- PHL for the week for work. The government actually booked all of them on AirTran.
And they are all flying them over the course over the next 5 weeks....

They are a great company Plus they have a wonderful upgrade policy!!

:thumbsup2 AirTran :thumbsup2

I flew them to WDW from Richmond two weeks ago and was very impressed. They have all new planes and XM satellite radio. Very nice.
