tell me about facebook

Hi,

I recently signed up with facebook and was browsing around. I found some old friends I would like to connect with. When I click on their profiles, they all say they do not share info unless you are a friend. But once I add them as friends and they accept, what do you do? Is it like e-mail, or a blog? I am confused as to what you "do" on facebook, just chat?

Facebook is my crack.

You can chat via IM, or by "email" (kinda like the private msg feature here), or by posting on the person's wall.

You can add pictures and stuff.

There are games and quizzes.

The easiest thing to do is just browse around and see what you're friends are doing.

I normally comment on my close friend's status updates and comment on their pictures. I will post once in a while on the "old friends who I'm not very close with anymore" wall.

Once you start using it, you'll love it. It's nice to read what the old friends are up to and it's easy to stay in touch with the friends that you're close with but don't see/talk to every day.

I've only been on it for about 3 months...but I love it. Still learning of course.
When someone adds me as a friend, I mainly just post on their wall (the box on their profile) some generic "Hey its great to see you here" comment. Then, you can check out their pictures, which is always fun, because I love pictures!! If you want to speak to someone more privately, send them a message under their picture on their profile, so not everyone will see what you say.

Things your friends say will show up on your page, and if you choose to comment to them, it will show back up on their page and so forth...
