Tell me about D23 Expo

So we went to DLR last September and we want to go back in 2015. My DW mentioned that maybe we should go to D23 expo. We are total Disney people. You know we cry at.....never mind I'm on disboards I'm preaching to the choir.
My concern is how are crowds because of it? I know the convention area will be packed but will DLR be unbearable as well (like a holiday weekend)? Thanks.

D23 doesn't really effect Disneyland crowds very much. There are things to do all day at the expo and by the time you get done there everyone is so tired we usually don't go to the park much after. Sometimes we'll go over for dinner and fireworks or something, but we didn't think it was a noticeable difference.

I have also found that the D23 crowds don't affect the parks much. The walk is pretty long from the convention center to the park entrances and there's SO much to do at the expo that not many people go to the parks during the expo. I would expect that a few days before and after the expo will probably be more crowded.

I remember our last day some of the hotel cast members said it was a great time to go to the parks but we were so dead tired we never made it. lol
