WE are considering going at Christmas next year. My DD whom has progressive hearing loss cannot be out in the heat. We would arrive the week following Christmas for 2 weeks, which I know will be extremely crowded. We would be staying until Jan. 8th.... so how are the crowds the week after new years? I think it would be nice to be there the week after Christmas and New Years as long as the parks cleared out at some point :)

Thanks for any advice :)

I've been at WDW 3 times that very first week of January (once arriving Jan. 1). It's amazing how quickly the crowds disappear after the holiday! The only disadvantages I find are 1.the weather-sometimes it's downright frigid! 2. Maybe it's just me, but I'm sick of Christmas music by then but they're still playing Christmas music! By the way, I'm going 1/1-1/6 2005-see ya there!

SimbasMom, that is too funny. I was thinking exactly the same thing. We were at Disney last year from the 3rd till the 8th. I loved seeing the decorations, but after a few hours of the Christmas soundtrack at MK, I was done.

I thought it was an excellent time to go, but the weather can be very unpredicatable. Our trip started out with temperatures in the high 70's during the day and mid 60's at night. On our last night there, a cold front moved in and I don't think it got above 40 degrees during the day. I'm from New England, but I was happy that I packed a jacket and mittens. The crowds got smaller and smaller as each day went by. The park does start closing earlier after the weekend and I think Spectro was only shown on Tuesdays and Saturdays after that.

One additional benefit to going right after christmas are the sales. I have found Christmas decorations and fleece sweatshirts at great prices in the past years. I hope I can go back again this year in January. The only drawback I have found is the large amount of people on "summer" break from their homes in South America. Some of the Brazilians hav e been the rudeist people I have ever encountered at Disney World. But hey I deal with rude people at work every day....I can enjoy Disney World a whole bunch more than work!

We will be arriving Jan 2nd. I HOPE the crowds will be gone and that we will have decent weather. My only concern is that we will be checking in early on the morning of the 2nd. I know the holiday week will be busy, so I wonder when everyone will start checking out.
