I have just moved our ADR for Boma to Sunday, July 15 and added Chefs de France for dinner on Monday, July 16. Their menu looks delicious, but I do not hear too much about it on these boards. Those of you that have had dinner there, what did you think? Anything that should not be missed?
TIA

Chefs is one of my favorite places to eat though I normally do a late lunch instead of dinner. One thing to remember is that it isn't a quick meal. The servers give you a truly French dining experience and that means no rushing you. If you are on a time schedule for some reason, be sure to let your server know first thing. Otherwise, sit back and pretend you are in Paris.:wizard:

That's so different from my experience! DH and I have had dinner there three times and thought we were being rushed along each time. Once was actually comical (we don't get stressed out when servers try to rush us--we'd rather be amused :) ).

I think the food at Chefs de France is pretty good, not great, and DH thinks it's just OK. I love Chefs for the stunning decor (earth-toned mosaic tile floors in great swoopy designs, huge expanses of wood-framed windows, etc.) and don't think you should miss it!

not impressed with anything there except for the creme brulee which was WONDERFUL.

The first time we ate at Chefs we thought it was wonderful. The last three times it has been cramped (as in we could almost taste what the next table was eating) and the food has become very mediocre along with the service.

Lunch here is a better bet in my opinion. Having said that, we all have different opinions and I shouldn't be so negative. It's a restaurant I'd suggest you give a try. Believe me, there are some restaurants I'd suggest you run from! This is not one of them.

Chefs was one of our most disappointing meals on our last trip. The meals were somewhat dry and bland. Soup was delicious, however. None of the five of us thought we should go back. As a matter of fact, DH says he has no intention of ever revisiting. (I would not say that...it was ok, nothing terrific. Far better meals elsewhere.)

This is one of my all time favorites. We were there in November and had a wonderful experience. We went at an off time, so the restaurant was mostly empty. Our server was great and made time to chat.

The food was amazing - especially the onion soup and the Tarte a la Flame Alsacienne. (This was just like the pizza I ate all the time as a student in France, and I'd been longing for it for years...) A warning though - the tartes are huge. They are like a pizza and could easily be a meal. We ordered two as appetizers, expecting them to be smallish, and had way, way too much food. We managed to eat dessert anyway. Dessert should not be missed.

I hated the ambiance, but I LOVED the food. My wife got the hamburger (Yeah... imagine) and she said (to my surprise... because I was cracking on her about getting a burger in a french restaurant) that it was the single best burger she had ever eaten. I tasted a bite. it was really good.
I got the Onion Soup, and it was heavenly. The food was superb, but it was VERY loud at dinner, and the whole experience wasnt too good with the kids. I also didnt like sharing the table with strangers. But the food (again) was to die for.
I wanted to try the Escargots just for the experience.... but I knew I couldnt stomach more than one of them if that much, so I didnt. If I go back Im gonna try it (especially if its on the meal plan)
The server I found to be very rude. He had no patience at all, and we felt very rushed as well, which was odd because they were VERY slow with getting the food to us. It took almost an hour after we ordered before we got the food. 20 minutes later they were all but pushing us away for our table.

Used to be a must do for us. Our last visit we found it incredibly crowded, incredibly noisy and the food was completely disappointing. It looks to us like they've added many more tables making it very uncomfortable, and lowered the food quality considerably. We won't go back.

Self-Employed -- You shared a table with strangers? What was that about??!! That's a total non-starter, IMO.

We ate at Chefs twice in January - once for lunch and the next night for dinner.

My family really enjoyed the French Onion Soup, Lobster Bisque, Filet Mignon and the Creme Brulee'.

Enjoy!

It was a mixed bag for us--don't know that I would hurry back.

We arrived a bit early for our 5:00 PS, but were seated promptly. Lisa had snails, tenderloin and cream brulee; I had mushrooms and cheese on flatbread, seared tuna, and chocolate tart. Very mixed reviews.

Both our appetizers were very good. The flatbread with mushrooms and cheese was almost large enough to be an entrée, and Lisa said her snails were quite tasty. My tuna had no taste at all. Nothing bad, but nothing good. Just nothing. The shoestring potatoes with it were room temperature. Maybe they were supposed to be? And a little on the greasy side. The bit of salad that came with it was very good. Lisa’s beef was superb and very tender, her potatoes were lack luster. Her crème brulee was excellent and my chocolate tart’s filling was great, but the crust was much too heavy.

We only ate 3 sit down meals: Boma, CdF and Kona. None of them provided remarkable service. Our server at Boma, whom I’d had before, was slow to remove dirty plates from the table and half heartedly kept an eye on our drinks. The server at France, who mentioned at the end of the meal that the gratuity was NOT included in the CP package was better, but still rather mechanical. She checked back frequently, but overall, I felt the ATTITUDE of all the wait staff we encountered was, “Here’s-your-food-I-hope-you-like-it;you-may-or-may-not-see-me-again-bye-and-have-a-nice-day.”

We will never go back for dinner (maybe lunch someday...) It was crowded, loud, the server was rude and the food was just Ok... It was also not kid friendly at all. It was the ONLY restaurant that charged us for the baby's milk. We were on the Disney Dining Plan and I had been prepared to pay for the milk we ordered while at TS restaurants for our youngest but all week long, none of the restaurants charged us except Chefs de France. Overall, there are many other places in Disney, especially in Epcot that offer much better dining choices IMHO.

I asked my wife and she said we didnt actually share the table, it was just so close that we felt like we did. I must have that one confused with somewhere else. But I DO remember it being VERY close seating and VERY crowded.

I would like to remind EVERYONE that you should NEVER judge any restaurant by an experience during "free DDP". They are always slammed and the staff are TIRED and the experience may very well be less appealing than usual.

I try to keep that in mind before I decide not to go somewhere twice.:thumbsup2

This is true...we are DVC members so we don't get FREE DDP, but it was being offered to others during our trip. Regardless, I won't be rushing back to Chef's de France anytime soon!
