We're celebrating kids' birthdays and an anniversary on our visit and have never done Chef Mickey's before. Is it worth it? Opinions please! Thank you!

We were there for dinner a month ago today. We celebrated my 2 yr old birthday there. The characters' interactions were amazing. Mickey & Minnie came to our table twice. Donald forgot to come to our table due to the napkin dance (whatever it is called), but after I let our waitress know the handler came to me & said that Donald will come out. He did & brought dd a birthday cupcake. The food was okay which I know it & we paid for the characters' interactions. My girls still talk about Chef Mickey's & want to go back cause they love the interactions of the characters. I would try it just once.

It depends, what meal are you going for? Breakfast or dinner? We have never had an issue with breakfast and my girlfriend insists on Chef Mickey's breakfast the morning we leave. Dinner, IMO, can range anywhere from sub-par to awful. Some love it, some hate it, much like everything else.

Also, it looks like your only about 5 and a half weeks out. Do you already have an ADR? If not you might have a hard time landing one.

We've done it a few times in the past for breakfast and it was OK but last October for dinner it was a disaster. The food was cold, not very good and the place was filty. Expect a lot of noise. For some reason I find CM much more noisy then the other character meals.

We haven't really decided, but were leaning towards breakfast...Thanks!

I went to CM for breakfast and honestly didnt like it. The quality and selection wasnt very good. I know i know, how can you screw up breakfast right? They managed to mess it up somehow. Food wasnt warm at all, it was lukewarm. Just very disappointing. But there were about 2 items that were pretty good. Who knows, maybe its changed since i've been? People seem to like it since its so difficult to get a reservation. I will say that the characters are great thou. It was so much fun for both my son and I. For that reason alone, i was thinking about going back.....maybe trying dinner this time. My son actually likes the place and didnt mind the food. But he's never asked to go back, so i never booked. hahaha. Im sure you'll have a lovely time. Enjoy!

We love CM for dinner!!! It is a favorite of ours. Have never been disappointed with the food. (yes it is buffet food but a bit above IMO)
The service has been good and the characters great. We usually make an early dinner when eating there, something along the lines of 5pm(ish).

I did edit my post, maybe you missed it, but with 5 and a half weeks or so before your trip, at this time of year, you can't be too choosey about where you eat and at what times. CM can be one of those hard to come by ADRs.

I agree. My trip is in 2 months (going aug.20-28) and I couldnt get a ressie for breakfast or dinner!! (I tried, just for kicks...bored at work, Lol). Good luck!

I know - we've gotten ADR every time we've gone. We've never HAD to eat at a place (other than Cinderella's Table), so we've just gone with whatever we can get if not our first choice. We're actually going to be going again in December, so we may try CM's that trip if we can't get it this time (which it sounds like we can't!) We do have an ADR at Ohana, but thought I'd gather opinions for CMs too.

Thanks again!

Character meals are the best way to meet characters. Have your dinner and let the characters come to you. No planning and waiting in lines. For our family Chef Mickey's is a must. Before we got FD we were only going to do one TS meal. Kids insisted it be CM. The food doesn't seem to be what it was before, but then that's not the reason we go there. Plus the kids love riding the monorail into the hotel.

The character interaction at CM was really great. All of the characters came over and spent alot of time at our tables and we're 2 adults. The food isn't the best, though. We've eaten at both breakfast and dinner and I think breakfast was the better of the 2.

I have to agree with previous posters- While neither is great as far as food quality goes, breakfast is the better of the two meals at CM.

I agree with this post. We have done Breakfast many times at Chef Mickey's and always have a great time and enjoy the food. We had Dinner there last time we went and the food was just OK. Maybe it is because breakfast food is easier to keep warm at a buffet.

As far as character interaction I think Chef Mickey's was great. The Garden Grill at EPCOT was probably a close second.

Totally agree with this. If you are looking for character interaction we thought it was very well done. As for the quality of the food it was okay. We would probably not go back again any time soon as it was $150 plus tip for 3 adults (my 11 yr. old is now an adult) and one child and we did not think the food was worth that. We had better meals at other restaurants for the same price but no character interaction (which it seems is what you are mostly paying for). :)

There are some pictures on my blog here if you care to see them.

Hope this helps. :)

We just went Sat night for the first time and had a blast! Character interaction was great! Service was great! We even ejoyed the food which normaly gets a bad rap so we were suprised how good it was! I got a pinacolava and it was as good as the one I get from the Poly!
