Tell me about breadmakers!

Does anyone have a good recipe for breadsticks? I see that people make them but have yet to find a recipe for them! TIA!!

My GE makes a 1.5 loaf (as best I can figure out). Here's the recipe....it's a very dependable recipe, but you could also use a french bread recipe and stope the machine before it bakes.

1 cup water
1 T powdered milk
1/4 c sugar
2 tsp butter
1 egg (beaten)
3/4 tsp salt
3.5 c all purpose flour
2-3 tsp dry yeast

measure ingredients into baking pan
select dough setting
when cycle is complete, remove dough from pan
Turn dough onto lightly floured board and shape dough into a ball. Divide into 24 equal pieces for 16 inch sticks. Roll each piece of dough into thin 16 inch ropes. Arrange ropes about 1 inch apart on oiled baking sheet. Allow to rise 30 minutes
Bruch with 1 beaten egg white and 1 T water. Sprinkle with poppy seds or sesame seeds or coarse salt if desired.
Bake at 400 degrees 10-15 minutes.

I did not like my bread machine and never got the same results I could achieve doing it by hand.

The last couple of months I am using the no knead method from a book called 'Artisan bread in 5 minutes a day' written by a US doctor and a pastry chef.
Basically, you throw in the flour, yeast, water and salt into a plastic bucket which eventually sits in your fridge and then you just pull off bits each day and cook up a loaf. It is so easy and the bread is great.

If you google the title of the book you will find their website which has a little video on their method.

I used it three maybe 4 times total.
It is boxed and ready for my garage sale :lmao:
The bread was YUMMY, but honestly, I find that I buy less bread now then ever before and its just not worth it for us.
But, people also swear by their Kitchen Aide Mixers and I sold that too (I used it so infrequently...too bulky, to heavy.boy was that woman HAPPY to get that thing, and ME happy to unload it .) so thats just me :lmao:
Now ..if you want to talk Coffee, lets talk Keurig, LOVE it :rotfl2::rotfl2:

wow i think i would hit someone who wanted to take my kichen aide mixer away, they are heavy, i put mine on a plastic glider sheet to move it on the counter easier... but i do love it they make it so easy to bake and my hands dont hurt anymore....
