Hi Everyone! I'm desperate for information and I just know someone out there can help...

I originally had reservations for GVC at the Poly from 9/19-9/23 but have found out that the Hawaii (concierge) building is going to be "down" for renovations around that time. I'm trying to come up with some alternative plans.

We looked at CR and GF concierge but their prices (for the same level of service as Poly GVC) were about 4 times more!! :earseek:

So I started looking at other resorts and found that the Boardwalk Inn looked like a great alternative...but I would like to hear about your experiences!!!

Please, tell me what you can about BWI concierge service...I'm going to be in touch with someone from Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings this week to try to fix this little "glitch".

Thanks in advance to all of you who can help!!!

I know a couple of other DIS'ers who have stayed at the BW concierge level. They have the garden suites, which look absolutely beautiful and romantic. I'm not familiar with the services at the resort, but I know that the pre-planning staff is the best that I've ever worked with. They handle the 3 Epcot resorts.

I'll take a look for the threads showing the details of their trips and then maybe you can get in touch with them. I'll update in a few minutes.

UPDATE: Here is a thread for the Garden Suites. On post #4, Elisabeth put a link in for some of her personal pictures.

And this link to KerryCM. She is a wealth of knowledge about BWI concierge level.

And here's Deb&Bills review, http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=837313 .

Well, I just tried to post a link to my review of BWI Concierge and it was not allowed so I will direct you to page three currently...my post entitled "Newbies just back from BWI-Concierge." Also just check my screenname for all posts...I don't have that many.

I will be happy to answer any questions as well. We were very impressed! Deb

Deb, I was just looking at your thread and was able go back and put the link in. Sounds like you had a great time.

Wow...debandbill's review was amazing! I'm so glad to hear it was wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing!

Thanks TammiMcMan...I am checking out those other links now!!!

You guys have really helped me out!!

Oh my god Tammi...we had such a good time. I am an interior designer/decorator....really kind of picky about my surroundings and I notice everything! We have managed to, unfortunately for our pocket books, worked our way up to suites on the cruise ships so our set point is kind of high so I really tried to not anticipate what Disney hotels might be like. I was definitely not dissappointed!

I forgot to mention that we got a phone message each evening telling us about the weather forecast for the following day along with who had EMHs and park highlights. The last evening, we got the weather forecast for our home destination...San Antonio. It is that attention to detail that makes the stay at Disney magical!

Disney has learned, for the most part, how to keep people coming back....I know we will definitely stay on the park even though we have family living nearby! Deb

The BWI CL is one of the best, the best in my opinion, on property!!!!! The IPO is wonderful,Alana is the best! The cast of the Innkeeper's Club will do everything in their power to make your stay as magical as possible. The lounge is roomy and very comfortable. The rooms are beautiful. I have had both regular and deluxe rooms, BW and quiet view and loved them all. I will say my main reason for staying there is the cast and the service I receive each visit.
I am planning on returning in december for another wonderful visit.

DebandBill, I agree, their attention to detail is amazing and it's so easy to forget those little things like the nightly concierge phone call. We too have family that lives in the area, but on-site is where I'll stay :flower: .

Hiwaygal, I had seen your post on one of the Poly threads regarding the renovations. In most instances, it would be fine to take a chance that they'll be all set, but not while you're trying to plan a wedding also. I know I'm not a big fan of the Poly theme, but I still think that you'd be very happy at the Boardwalk. So many food choices, clubs for dancing, entertainment, hand held walks around the Boardwalk. I'm a September bride too, 9/24/83. It's my favorite month of the year.

KerryCM, it's not going to be this year, but our next trip, you have me 100% convinced to stay at the Boardwalk. I can't wait.

Thanks for your encouragement! I so need it right now! :)

DH2B is really mad and ready to cancel everything! He said he would like to have definite plans and KNOW (without a doubt) where we will be staying. I can't say I blame him on that point.

While I think we would have really liked the atmosphere of the Poly, we just don't like the uncertainty. The Boardwalk is starting to sound wonderful, we like the proximity to at least two of the four major parks and...heck, we're thinking of changing ALL our wedding plans to keep everything near the BWI (if dates and locations are available).

Nothing like a little renovation to spice up your wedding plans, huh?!? :rotfl:

Hiwaygal,

The Boardwalk Inn garden areas just look like a wedding scene in and of themselves...the trellis' , the roses, lots of white and pastels, and, don't forget the bunnies! I felt like there was a movie director there...everytime I walked out onto the balconies...someone said "que the bunnies" and out they would hop from the shrubs and roses! Our suite overlooked the garden suites...they looked really nice although I was glad we were close to the concierge lounge rather than having a walk from those suites...you might keep that in mind....the convenience of just a few steps from room to lounge.

Since you are having a September wedding, the weather will still be hot, hot, humid and hot! The easier your logistics are the better as even the slightest effort in that weather produces mega sweat even if you aren't outdoors a lot! So, keeping things close together is a great idea!

If you don't mind some advice from an old married woman, I would suggest maybe not giving your hubby to be a blow by blow analysis of what's going on. Just put together the 2 plans, one taking your chances at the Poly and the other having your wedding at the Boardwalk (once you have all the details). Then you can sit down and go over them together. A few months ago, there was a link to someones pictures that had gotten married inside their garden suite. I don't think it was an official Disney wedding though. I'm searching now to see if I have the link. I'll let you know.

You probably saw Elisabeths pictures and you can find some more here, BW Pictures. They have some nice 360 degree views too.

Thanks debandbill for even more insight. I do know that it will be "warm" ;) and I am glad that our current plans are VERY relaxed and casual (read: no big, honking wedding dress for me!). One of the wedding locations is right there at BWI and I am just hoping that location is available for our time (right now we are scheduled to get married at Sunset Point at 9 am on 9/20)...if it's available at all and just at a different time, that might mean changing the officiant and everything! LOL! Oh well...c'est la vie!

Okay, finally found what I was looking for. It wasn't a wedding, but a vow renewal done at the Garden Suite. There are a lot of nice photos though, if you want to go through the site. Here it is, Garden Suite and then just follow the "Our Disney Vow Renewal" link.
