we are thinking of trying it next June. We have been to WDW so many times and really want to try a few places we have NOT been to yet. I checked the menu and I think this will be something our teen and young adult DDs will also like. But - I wanted to hear others opinions. Is there any difference atmosphere wise between lunch and dinner?

NO difference atmosphere wise. WE have always loved Big River. We have always had great service and good food. They have a nice menu, wide variety, moderate pricing. (If you like beers they are quite good as well).

It has a modern feel. Light woods and brushed stainless steel. You can eat inside or out. If it is a nice day, sit outside and people watch..great view of the water and everyone walking the boardwalk. Lots of fun.

You will get a lot of different opinions on this place, as it seems people like it or hate it, no middle ground. Best thing you can do is give it a try for yourself!

Thanks - I have learned that too - gotta decide for yourself. BUT - it never hurts to ask and get opinions.

I love their burgers. It's always great to sit outside on the Boardwalk when the weather's nice.

We have been there twice. Both times were good, but prefer ESPN over it. BRG is quieter, no doubt. But food at ESPN seems a bit tastier.

I tried BRG for the first time in April and I really enjoyed it. It was nice sitting out on the boardwalk. The food was good but they do not take the DDE (the discount card) which I didn't relize until after I finished eating.

If you just want a burger or wings go to ESPN.

Basic Microbrew atmosphere...lunch or dinner...no difference.

I have passed on this place based upon observations of diners I observed as as I strolled along the Broadwalk..evening after evening...it did not compare to the collect of Micro Breweries I have dined at in my past. The happest guests were the one ordering just drinks.

Overall, patrons appeared to be pleased with their beers but tables without were not smiling, playing with their food or paying the server..ready to leave with the majority of food still on their plates.

It's good for a beer and a burger, but not much else. Service is nonchalant and inside seems rather drab, with a strong smell of hops, etc.

The burgers are good and the beer is mediocre by craft brew standards but certainly quaffable relative to the choices offered at other disney restaurants. I just wish they would kick it up a bit and make some DIPA's or Imperial Stouts...anything with more flavor.

Thanks for all the comments. :)

DH and I are not beer drinkers. DH may have it once in a while, but really would rather have something else if he is going to drink. I never aquired the taste for beer - would rather have wine.

We are thinking about going primarily because we are really wanting to do things we haven't done yet (which isn't much considering how many times we have been to WDW) - which includes eating at a few restaurants we haven't.

To be honest there are very few restaurants at WDW that WOW me anymore. I just want to make sure it isn't horrible.... ya know what I mean?

Perfectly said. And with the decline in the meatloaf these past many years, we haven't found much reason to go out of our way to eat there as of late. Too many other good food options in the immediate area.

We liked it on our trip in April. Fun atmosphere if its a nice evening and you can sit ouside. Reasonable prices (for Disney!) with decent food. The beer was good.
We would go back. Don't think it's on the DDP.

It'll likely be on the DDP for 09 - it has been in the past, I think.

I didn't care for it. We walked in one afternoon for a late lunch. The smell inside was almost unbearable but the waiter told me I'd get used to it soon - I did after about 10 minutes. It's just the beer fermenting and may smell like that all the time.

If you get a table outside, I think it'd be a nice atmosphere. Otherwise, it's a bare boring spot with spotty service and okay food. The beer was not good, I didn't think, but I prefer dark beers. The waiter was nice to bring out sample sizes for us to taste at no charge.

I would eat there again if nothing else was open or we wanted to walk into someplace quickly. I'm glad we tried it once, as we try to not repeat restaurants when we go to WDW. Give it a try!

does anyone know for sure? that would be a deal breaker for us since we are going to be using the dining plan

Its definately on the DDP, however you cannot make an ADR for this restaurant through the Disney Reservation line. You must call the restaurant directly. I think they take reservations at about 60 days out?? We are going in September and I requested an outdoor table.

Also another tip I got and would like to pass on.

Sign up for their email club about 3 weeks before you leave for Disney and they will send you an email good for a free appetizer! The reason you have to sign up close to departure is the email is only good for about 1 month. If you sign up too early, the coupon will expire.
