I'd love to hear thoughts and opinions on the BCV. I really think our kids would love the SAB, and the theming is great! absolutely beautiful...

I heard the rooms had a soft rehab, however in pictures the rooms seem to look a little dated, rundown? Is that the case or are these old pictures that I am viewing (on this site, Deb's site)

Anyone have any current pics?

Thanks!

Don't have any current pics but we stayed there in Feb and loved it. We were on a split stay so my DD and I went and checked in while DW and DD went to Ak (not my favorite park). As soon as we walked in we could smell something like the beach. It was great the CM said they put a scent in the air and change it from time to time. SAB was the best and beaches and cream is a must. We all agree its our favorite. I wish I had bought there. EPCOT is our favorite park and walking there is easy. We also like HS and the boat ride is not bad. When we want to go to MK we walk through EPCOT (we have APs) Pick up a fastpass for sorin or test track and walk to the monorail for the trip to MK. On out way back to BCV we ride the ride. Its the perfect location if that is the stuff you like. Our room was fine and was neat and clean.

As you can probably figure out, BCV is my fave!!! It is the best location and had the best pool! It is so relaxing, has a great atmosphere, great places to eat, and if you don't like the choices to eat, take a short trip to Epcot or the Boardwalk. It's fantastic!

Really great. I wish I was there now. Beaches and cream is great. Staff is very friendly. And you have to meet Art the greeter. Movies on the beach at night. Now you went and done it I'm home sick.

Well, the more and more I read about BCV, I think I'm starting to like it! I think with all it has to offer, the kids would LOVE it!
Right now, BCV has moved up to #1 on our list!

Baordwalk is my home resort and still think it is the best. We spent a week in June at BCV and it is my favorite summer resort. Our room was fine, except the location was not so hot. SAB is fantastic and Beaches and Cream is a must do even if you have to wait. They also do movies on the beach at night which were fun when we were not in the parks. Have a great time.

We were just there over the 4th. Loved SAB and the location. However, the actual room does not compare to other resorts. We felt that our room was smaller than at other resorts. We had multiple issues (minor) with the room (broken clothes line in master bath, burt out light bulb, scratched walls, etc). Had a view of trees and the top of the Effiel Tower.

Also really sucked that our room wasn't ready till after 5pm

Location and the pool more than made up for the other minor issues (excepting waiting to check in was really frustrating)!

We will be there Aug 2-5, so I will try and take some pictures of the room and post them for you.

I think it's way over rated:rolleyes1:
But then what do I know I've only stayed there 25 times, guess I'm still trying to figure what the attraction is.
I'll be there in Sept and Nov this year and so far Feb and May next year maybe I'll figure it out by then.
All kidding aside does anyone else remember how for the first year or so after opening it was the most disliked DVC resort, very few people had anything good to say about it, how things have changed.
I consider myself lucky that when I decided to buy DVC that BCV was what they were selling and I bought sight unseen, didn't know anything about DVC other than it was a timeshare. My purchase is still worth today considerablly more than I paid for it, not that I bought it for that reason, I plan on leaving it to my Grandchildren, who all seem to love it there as much as I do.

You know....I always tell myself just to "sit on my hands" when I read threads like this one, because honestly.....we don't need to make it ANY harder to get into BCV, but it truly is one of my favorite places on Earth!! My dh teases me that it's not WDW that I love...it Beach Club (and, I think he is right!!).

It is just awesome!! The resort is beautiful, the location is awesome, and the amenities are fantastic (Cape May b'fast is yummy, we did the paint your own sculptures...fun and CHEAP!!, great views from the room, parking is close, the pool is AMAZING, you can walk to mini-golf (my dd's favorite), and movies and s'mores on the beach are fun!!!

My only real complaint is Beaches 'n Cream. We LOVE eating there, but it has become so popular with everyone that it is really difficult to get in. Since it is a "resort amenity" I do feel that BC guests are getting shorted one of the amenities of the resort when it is so difficult to get in there. About a year ago, we had the mis-fortune of walking up behind a group of cheerleaders and their parents (about 40 people total) to get a table at B&C. We were told it would be a 90-120 min. wait for a table. It was ridiculous! The cheeleaders had walked over from Epcot (they were staying at Sports) because they had heard so much about the place, and they were really excited.....but, that pretty much shut down the restaurant for everyone else for 2 hours. Everytime I get an online survey from BCV, I make sure to let them know that there should be two waitlists for BCV, with priority given to those who are resort guests, OR they should begin to take ressies from resort guests for that restaurant. It simply cannot handle all the popularity it is receiving, and it is desperately needed as a place for resort guests to eat.

Other than that....enjoy!! We just cancelled our Jan ressie at BCV to stay in a Grand Villa at OKW with friends, and I am not too sure about the decision....I get really grumpy when I cannot come back to the BC at the end of the day!!! So, I immediately had to book another trip for May....I HAVE to get a BCV fix at least once a year!!!

But, I swear....next time....I am just going to sit on my hands!!!!;)

The rooms are anything but rundown and dated. I don't know where people get these ideas. I just checked the photos on Deb's site and they look exactly like the villas look like now. We were just there in June, so I can vouch for that. The theme is seaside beach cottage, so if you were expecting the W Hotel, you won't find it at BCV.

How old are your children? SAB has some very deep areas with a very swift current that can sweep you off your feet and into the 8' deep area. Be very careful. The "lazy river" is far from being "lazy" or a "river". More like a quick little, very deep loop. I personally think that SAB is very overrated and like the Dunes Cove pool much better. My husband and son disagree and love the slide at SAB, but I think that's about all they really do there.

Hope you enjoy your stay at BCV.

I had similar thoughts about BCV before our stay, although not that the rooms were run down, just dated decor compared to newer places. In the grand scheme of things I think DVC has a problem b/c they don't update decor to more current designs when they do their rehabs but I don't have to live with it 365 days of the year and there's certainly nothing terrible about it. It's an older style, but it's not old stuff! We'll be at BCV again without concern.

And to clarify on why I think DVC will have a problem (although I've heard the argument about how "we bought the place b/c we loved the look and don't want it to change") is b/c they do keep updating the decor on the hotel sides and it's now definitely showing the difference in era's for when the designs were done. Having updated decor mentally gives a feeling of clean and new and it's getting hard to compare the two. If there isn't already a problem I think there will eventually be difficulty in renting out available cash units. After all, how many times are there threads asking about the cleanliness and upkeep? This hurts owners b/c those cash rentals could/should be contributing to the bottom line.

I haven't stayed at BCV yet, but definitely plan to in the future. We were at BWV this week, and were very disappointed in the food choices. A lot of the places don't open til 5pm. We would have loved to get a funnel cake at lunch time, but the posted hours were 5pm-11pm, and we never did see it open. By the time we came back from the parks at the end of the day, we were way too tired to care what activities were going on on the Boardwalk, and went straight to bed.

We visited the BCV and discovered that they had a CS/grab n go restaurant along with their gift shop, which was really more of the kind of thing we like. (If you can possibly be spoiled by a value resort, we were very spoiled by the CS offerings and gift shop at Pop before joining DVC). The shop at BCV has a nice selection of lunchmeat sandwiches, and even offered to toast them for us. We shared a ham and cheese sandwich on a yummy roll and a bag of chips. I also got a cup of applesauce there, and at the parks they wouldn't let me buy one without purchasing a whole kids meal. It's a convenient place to refill your mugs too.

We loved the area and walked home from DHS one evening. The boat driver said it was just over a mile, but it didn't feel that long even in the July heat. It was a relaxing walk because there was no one else on the trail and we needed a break from the park crowds.

As far as the rooms go- I've read some posts about the furniture being a bit beat up, nicks on the walls, and just little things like that.

I've stayed at the W before, and I'm not looking for anything like that when it comes to taking two young children to Disney. However if I'm going to fork out thousands of dollars for a vacation, I don't want to be disappointed either! From all the responses I have gotten, it sounds as if the rooms are in good shape, and I'm not all that concerned about it anymore.

As I said before, BCV has become my #1 choice.

My thoughts exactly- maybe it's the decor that seems to "look" a little more outdated- not the age of the furnishings themselves...

especially when you see the new bedding at the BC and the BWI, as well as the BLT...clean and crisp, a little more modern, but they still all fit within the decor. I have a background in design, so these are things that catch my eye!

I do really like the BCV . I love the resort theme, and the pools, and the proximity to everything. Sounds great- and everyone else seems to love it too!
