Tell me about Austin, Texas

I liked that Sea World well enough-- at least until I passed out. We had had a cool NY summer and the August heat in TX just got to me. Very scary-- drink lots and lots of fluids!!
In Austin, I really liked going to see the LBJ museum at the University of Texas. It was pretty small, but very interesting. Seeing the campus was really cool, too, even though I'm not a football fan or anything. The Texas State History museum was also great-- the gift shop sold these initialed steak branders! Soooo wish I got one!

Yeah I hate to say I had a similar experience at Sea World in San Antonio. I was watching the Seal Show at around 3:00pm one summer and it was way too much for me. I was throwing up in the bushes upon exiting the theater. You do have to be very careful about heat exhaustion in Texas. In fact I would not advise doing any out door activities between 12:00pm and 5:00pm - or at least seek out air conditioning every hour. August and September can be worse than July though so I don't think you'll see the worst of the summer but it is something to consider. I like to take frozen water bottles with me wherever I go, have ice in a cooler in the car, frozen bandanas - something to get your temperature down if you need to.
