Tell me about April Mass school vacation week 2006??

I am planning an April school vacation 2007 trip for my daughters and myself for next April. Our vacation is the 15 thru 21. Just wondering on crowds,weather, whatever. We have never travelled on school vacations but girls are older and I don't want them to miss a whole week of school now.

Went in 2005 over Easter (late March). Weather was fantastic... crowds were as bad as I have ever seen. I have been there just about every other month/holiday...

The parks are open very early and very late... planning is critical.

remember that April 2006 had both Easter and April Vacation the same week --

Easter draws a huge crowd on its own & then when you throw in April vacation I'm sure the crowds were pretty bad

We've gone twice during April vacation week. One of those weeks coincided with Easter week. Both times it was very crowded, but the weather was wonderful -- warm and dry!

Going to be VERY crowded, regardless of when Easter falls. But the weather will be great and the parks will be open lots of hours, so just get there early with a plan and use fastpasses and you'll be fine.

We went April 2005 and are also planning for the same week you are next year. It is crowded but manageable. If you have a plan and utilize your fastpasses you will be fine. There are alot of New Englanders at this time of year since most places are on the same vacation schedule.

Easter in 2007 is the weekend before my trip starts, so I am hoping all the Easter people are flying home on April 15th while I am flying in.........

We were there for April vacation in 2004 and 2006. 2004 did not coincide with Easter and 2006 did. I can't really say that there was a great deal of difference. How much more crowded than 'really crowded' can it be. I did seem to notice more New Englanders in 2004 than 2006, probably because there were people from a greater range of areas. One nice thing about the past trip was that the parks stay open late and open early. Because you will be there after the main holiday peak period, the parks may start to cut back on the hours already. In 2004 that was a problem, especially at the end of the week. The MK had grad nights at the end of the week we were there, so it closed early and AK also closed early. The worst night we had was when we went to DTD on one of the grad nights. Since the MK was closed, AK was closed it seemed that everyone was in DTD. Couldn't get into stores, or restaurants.
But in the parks, have a plan, make use of the EMH early hours when you can and enjoy the warmth, it will hardly be warm here at that point in April.
