Tell me about Akershus!

I'm going for a quick spring break trip with a friend (we're both twenty-something women) and she really wanted a princess meal. I saw this as a perfect opportunity to try Akershus (I've heard really good things about the food and my family--all adults--is shying away from princess meals at this point); not to mention CRT was all booked and is more expensive anyway!

I'm specifically curious about the way the pictures work: do you get photopass pictures included with the price of the meal? Is this a picture taken before you're seated, or do they have photopass people following the characters around?

I'd like to arm myself ahead of time because when we went to Chef Mickey's in December, we never got the group picture with the plate taken (not mentioned when we checked in, and then when our pager went off, we were taken straight to our table). We got lots of great pictures during the meal itself, and we had plenty of group pictures due to vigilant photopass-ing in the parks (and in our resort!), but I would have liked at least to have had the option....

We went to Akershus a few years ago for lunch, the food was very good. It was very crowded, whe had Adr's and still had to wait quite awhile. They took our picture prior to being seated then brought a copy in a folder to us while we were eating. Overall it was a nice lunch:)

You get a posed picture (likely with Belle) before you are seated. They will bring it to your table since it's included with the price of the meal. Inside it will have the photopass number that you can add to your photopass account afterward. For candid shots with the princesses at your table, that's up to you with your personal camera.

My mom and I (both adults) went to dinner at Akershus last time we went to Disney. We thought it was a lot of fun. WHen your name is called (generally you're waiting outside in the Norway pavilion) they take you to have your picture taken with Belle, adn then you are seated. Despite it being super crowded with lots of kids, both the waitress and the princesses gave us plenty of attention. The food was different than what we are used to as Americans. Since eating at Akershus, I have actually been to Norway and a lot of the food is very authentic, particularly the food on the buffet

DH and I had lunch at Akershus last January. We went not because of the princesses (please forgive me) but we went because I wanted to taste the food I grew up with. I was disappointed and thought it was not tasty at all. the quality was not there.
Now, we all know that food is subjective I only want to let you know that it is definitely NOT AUTHENTIC. It all tasted like it came out of a can.

The princesses however, were plentiful and fun and yes, they'll take your picture with Belle before they let you into the restaurant.

Fun for everyone! The food is interesting but good! Not your normal American fare. The princesses spent enough time at each table and the service was very good. Overall, a great character meal! :thumbsup2

The photo is included with the meal at the Akershus restaurant and it is taken before you are seated. We were able to see 5 or 6 princesses that came around to the table as we ate. A great deal for the money and a great way to see lots of princesses! The food was really good, too!

I really enjoyed it when I went in Dec 2010. I had the meatballs (or something) and didn't like them at all. My mother had the chicken which was very good. The cold board is the best, practically a meal unto itself. And the dessert tray! Wonderful!

I don't know about the pictures. What I do know is it used to have a very wide selection of good food; now it has princesses!

We went to Akershus back in March of last year. It was a lot of fun to meet with the princesses, but the food was just okay.

When we got there, we were about 15 minutes early for our ADR. We ended up waiting in a really long line for about 30 minutes for a table though. When it was our turn to go in, DD5 got her picture made with Belle, then we were taken to our table. The service was superb, and the time with each princess was excellent as well. The food, on the other hand, was not the greatest. I did enjoy the cold bar with all of the Norwegian-type fare, but we didn't really enjoy our meals that much. They were good, but nothing spectacular. We didn't mind this a bit though, because we were there for the princesses. LOL. All in all, it was a very fun time, and we did get our tummies full. This time we're going to try out CRT for dinner. I am so excited!!!

Everyone has pretty much answered your picture questions so I'll talk about the food. We went last June and LOVED it! The food was delicious with appetizers (cold meats, seafood, and prepared salads, cheeses and breads.) at a community salad bar type setting and then you get to pick your entree.

My husband had the salmon and I, who am on the fence about salmon, thought it was divine! My son had the roast chicken which was good and I had the catch of the day which I thought was truly awesome.

I grew up in foster care with Norwegian parents and I have been "Norwegian 'fooded' to death" so I was always reluctant to try this place. I have no regrets now!

I have a feeling you are going to enjoy it!

Have a great trip and remember to say "tusen takk for maten" which means thanks for the food!
