Tell me about 50's Prime Time

We might try this next time--thanks for all your input! My kids love to interact with the servers, as do DH and myself--we had a ball at Whispering
Canyon. This might be one of the new places for the next trip!

This is by far my favorite experience and as far as the food goes pretty close to my favorite Beaches and Cream. We go here at least once each trip. I suggest waiting for a table with a TV, it adds to the experience. Your waiter will make or break the theme. I have had some that are absolutely great and others that just serve you as if you are at any old eatery. If you act as if you are willing to have fun I think they feel better about scolding you and treating you as family. Make sure if you are with other adults you fill them in on the theme. I took my mom there on our mother daughter trip and she got very angry and thought the waiter was rude. When I explained this was all part of the experince she thought it was silly to pay for someone to be rude to you. I think the food is very good. I have had the chicken soup, fried chicken, pot roast and my real fav smores. The portions have gotten smaller over the years but I still think it is worth it. Enjoy!:happytv:

I am on the DDP. However, I have made ADR's for all of my seven Ts's. I have made an ADR for 50's and will pay OOP. I was thinking that DH and I could share a meal and the Two DD's could also. We do this a lot because we just don't eat a lot. My question is, if we do this, what will "Mom", "Cousin" etc... have to say about this? Does anyone have experience with sharing food here? or What about just going in and ordering dessert? I am not crazy about the food, just the atmoshere.

We had a great time there. Aunt Jan and Cousin Jen are so funny. My step son 11 got "fed" a HUGE fork full of the collared greens and he was a good sport about it and actually swallowed it. Step daughter asked for more water so Aunt Jan brought her 4 more glasses and told her to be sure and finish them. She pretty much did (huge water drinker) and then Aunt Jan wouldn't tell her where the bathroom is!

Years ago when the MGM studios opened, my family and I thought that this was a good restaurant. Good entrees, great desserts, and the kids could always get a burger if nothing else looked good to them.
The past few years, the food has been absolutely awful. We've tried going just for appetizers and desserts and found that the size of these portions were reduced.
I guess Disney thinks that as long as they can provide an entertaining theme for a restaurant, they don't have to bother providing decent food.
Will never return to this place. There are too many good restaurants in the resorts to try.
