Tell me about 50's Prime Time Cafe

We were skeptical but our middle DD begged to go there. It was her only request for the whole trip in '09 so we went, even though none of the rest of us wanted to. She got the last laugh when we all absolutely loved it! It was the 1st place to go on our to do list for our upcoming trip in May! Our server was just the right mix of antics. He joked but didn't humiliate. He asked who was the laziest one in our family. We all pointed at our DD16. He made her do "chores" - she had to set the table & gather all of our dirty dishes into a pile as we finished with them. He asked where we were from. We told him Indiana so then he announced to the room, which had 5 or 6 tables in it, that DD was "the laziest person in all of Indiana". She was a great sport & laughed it up. If he had done that to our middle DD, she probably would have died of embarrassment! He declared our youngest DD to be his favorite & told her she could do whatever she wanted, including putting her elbows on the table & not eating her veggies.

Another server there was doing the "open the tunnel for the choo-choo train" trick to a grandpa to get him to eat his veggies. Fun to watch but glad it wasn't me!

At the next table, the server informed the 2 boys, probably 10 & 12, that their hair was too long (that shaggy, overgrown look that is in style) & Grandma wouldn't approve. Their dad was laughing & nodding his head the whole time! We just saw alot of fun good-hearted teasing.

The food was really good too! We had fried chicken, meatloaf & pot roast at our table & everyone loved what they ordered. Dad's brownie sundae is delicious!!

Oh my I didn't know it was that kind of place. How would you compare the interaction there to Whispering Canyon Cafe?

It will be me & DD9. Mainly choose this over Sci-Fi for the food choices & we are already eating Italian at Epcot another day so didn't want to do Mama Melrose.

My first trip to WDW was in 75. So I have been going for a long time. Somehow we have never managed to eat at 50's Prime Time. We are going again May 2011. Is it worth it.

We love it there is fun time and food good. when we do have kids along with us the think is a riot the servers get on the adults to clean their plates...we have to go this time for lunch as my brother in law wants something they serve only at lunch and my sister and I are just glad to get our fried chicken there and onion rings...:cheer2:

We went for the first time this past July and loved it.... however, my 7 year old DD was not having any part of the antics. She didn't want to be "scolded" and proceeded to cry right from the start :( Our server was a sweetheart and played along gently and then didn't do much at all much to the chagrin of my 9 year old DD..... so at one point I told her that my older DD wants to play along and our server looked at her and told her "Elbows off the table and MOM-stop being a tattletale!" :rotfl: :rotfl:

We thought the adult food choices were great.... the kids' choices left a lot to be desired-the typical chicken nuggets and fries you can get anywhere @ WDW ....

We really enjoyed our dinner there last year. Our server announced to the whole restaurant that we were on our honeymoon - wink, wink. The poor guy at the table behind us was busted trying to use his napkin to wipe his plate free of anything he didn't finish, including gravy, and the server was *not* happy. ;) He ended up standing in the middle of the dining room singing "I'm a little teapot" - too funny! Luckily, he was a good sport and totally into it.

And the food was delish.

We just ate there last week... we won't be returning!
I was prepared for the "antics"... but our server didn't do a whole lot... mostly at the beginning she told us to keep our elbows off the table and made us set our own table... that was it! (She may have gotten the vibe that DM wasn't into it, but I wanted some antics and actually put my elbows on the table to get some... but was ignored) The server at the next table was TOO INTO IT he screamed so loudly he scared us.... but that isn't the only reason we didn't care for it.... let's just say that we had to file a claim with Disney for damages to personal property!

My goodness! what happened?

My goodness! what happened?

When we came in the restaurant, we were informed that there was no room inside for my rented scooter or my Mom's electric wheelchair (an expensive model too). We expressed concern because there were some dark clouds and it looked like it would rain. We were assured that should it rain that they would cover them up. Although we were not happy with that situation we left it at that. While we were eating it did indeed start pouring.... and I mean buckets!!!! It was still coming down when we went back outside. Which is where we found to our dismay ourpartially covered scooter and wheelchair. On my scooter, they put a black plastic trash bag over the tiller and left the seat uncovered (and drenched) this had me so upset I didn't even register right away our other problem.. Mom's wheelchair had been covered also by a plastic bag.... the seat... and only the seat had been covered!! The battery compartment fortunately was sealed well enough to keep water out. The problem was the controller is NOT supposed to be exposed to water as it is not sealed.... they left it UNCOVERED. We finished that day pretty upset about turns of events, but her chair was working and seemed ok... however, over the next couple of days we noticed that the power level was going down faster than usual. The rain was on Mon.... by Thurs, we realised we had a problem... by 1pm it was almost dead... so we went to guest relations and they had us file a claim so we can try to get her chair fixed!
