I currently have an old 19-inch TV.
I am looking for a new TV.
I can’t believe all the different types of TV’s out there.

I was looking at the following:

1- a 32 inch RCA regular TV – around $400

rca tv

2- a 27 inch Sanyo “real flat screen” TV – around $400

sanyo TV

Is a flat screen better?
Is 32 inch better the 27 inches? Does 5 inches matter?
For the 27 or 32 inch TV’s do you need to view them from 8 to 10 feet away to avoid seeing black lines?
Does anyone have an RCA TV with Guide Plus? How is it?

Thanks

Hey Charlie,
Might as well look at Digital TV's.There is talk of all our TV's being obsolete by 2006.Congress is trying to pass a bill that everything be broadcast in digital format.

We purchsed a new TV a year ago Labor Day. We compared a 32" regular screen with a 27" flat screen (Sony). The 27" won for two reasons. The room the TV is in is on the small side and there is not comparison with picture quality. The flat screen picture is so sharp!

but I do know there are *huge* sales on tvs during the big Thanksgiving-Xmas shopping time. Maybe narrow it down to a few now and wait to see what goes on sale?

I have the same problem ,sort of. I want to get a 27" flat screen for my bedroom. I was looking at the tv's at Good Guys, there was one digital HDTV 27" flat screen among all the rest , all on the same channel. The picture on the HDTV screen was so much clearer! I decided to spend the money and get a HDTV.

We have the 32" RCA, I'm pretty sure it's the same one in the picture. I bought it at circuitcity the day after Thanksgiving last year for $300. We have direct TV so don't use the Guide Plus, took awhile to figure out how to turn it off and that was annoying. No problems with it, the girls use it most often.
