*** Television, Fall 2009 ***

I really like Eureka, so I keep holding out hope.

Is that show ever coming back?

I'm kind of surprised "Lost" isn't listed either. I know it will be coming back but I wonder if they are waiting until the season is in progress before picking a time slot. :confused3

I agree with the PP who said moving "Ugly Betty" to Fridays will be the death of it.

And I am THRILLED "Castle" will stay on Mondays. It is a great way to start the week! :thumbsup2

TV Guide tweeted that Friday Night Lights will be shown on NBC, summer 2010.

I am bummed they are moving Ugly Betty to Fridays. It's my favorite show and I hope this isn't the death of it. How is it According to Jim lasted all these years but they cancel shows that people really like. ABC seems too quick to cancel their shows and so people may be afraid to get invested in a new show for fear of it being canceled...like Life on Mars, The Unusuals, Pushing Daisies...all shows that had a big fan base but didn't last.
I love Scrubs, but even I think they should end it already...I'm not a fan of the new cast and the originals will only be coming bcak for a few episodes.

NBC used to be "Must See TV" for me. Now its blah. The only thing I watch on there now is Heroes.

Where is How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Rules of Engagement and Two and a Half Men?

What about LOST? I have this season's finale on the DVR. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. This wasn't the last season, was it?
I just added this to the message you replied to:

ABC has not announced where Lost will return for its final season.

Sorry for the omission... I have no idea why ABC didn't include that in their press release.

Did I read that right? That it going to be presented on DirecTV's own television channel, before that...

Well, let's be fair: None of those shows had big fan bases. They had noisy fan bases, but they weren't "big".

Ugly Betty attracted about 2.3 million viewers per episode; ABC typically needs 2.65 million per episode to justify a renewal, so Ugly Betty caught a break this year. By all rights, it wasn't popular enough to be picked up for next year. It will need to really do well on Friday (at least that same 2.3 million) to justify its continued existence; Ghost Whisperer gets higher ratings on Friday than that, so the potential is there, if Ugly Betty is really that popular.

Life on Mars, Pushing Daisies and especially The Unusuals did worse than Ugly Betty.

I love Scrubs, but even I think they should end it already...I'm not a fan of the new cast and the originals will only be coming bcak for a few episodes.
I have no idea what's going on there. It's mystifying.

I updated the first message in this thread to show all the networks' schedules together, by time slot.

Bummer, no Without a Trace. All the shows we watch are on opposite one another on Tuesday and Thursday. The only thing we watch on NBC is Heroes anymore.

Well, Thursday is the most lucrative night of television, so it makes sense for the networks to try to get as much money as they can. I've got a full slate of six shows I'm going to want to record that night. Subject to change, of course, this is how my recording schedule will probably break down:

Sunday, 2.5+1=3.5
Monday, 4+1=5
Tuesday, 2+2=4
Wednesday, 2+2=4
Thursday, 6+0=6 *
Friday, 3+0=3 *
Saturday, 0+0=0

By network:

ABC, 6+1=7 *
CBS, 6+2=8
CW, 1+0=1 *
Fox, 5.5+1=6.5
NBC, 1+2=3

(The math, above, represents definite+probable.)

* Our only three-way conflict is Thursday 8PM, between Bones, Vampire Diaries and Flash Forward. My wife has decided to go with Bones and Vampire Diaries, so Flash Forward gets missed.

Also, we will record Smallville, but it doesn't really count because we are actually a few years behind and have watched the entire series, so far, on DVD, via Netflix. We're just recording it now so that when we finally catch up to these episodes we're recording, we can start watching it off the DVR instead.
