Television cross-overs

The original Magnum had a Murder, She Wrote crossover.

I remember a professor who was a real character. He was a part timer teaching supposedly grad-level probability classes part time even though he was a full-time electrical engineering professor at another school. However, he was Irish and pretty much stereotypically so. I don't know how it came up, but his opinion on Angela Lansbury in Murder, She Wrote was that it was such a travesty that such a lovely and talented actress was making what he thought of as garbage.

Awww, I loved Murder, She Wrote! I'm a fan of Angela Lansbury, and I have fond memories of watching it with my grandmother.

If you’re talking about when a series debuts as part of another show that’s usually called an “embedded pilot”. NCIS itself was actually an embedded pilot in JAG with a two or three part episode. But yes they do seem to be trying to keep NO going with crossovers.
No, I'm not referring to the pilots. I'm talking about when they brought Abby or Ducky or various others after the series started.

Fair! They did it a few times with LA too but I’ve always felt like NO was the weakest of the series by far. I haven’t watched it yet this season it’s just piling up on my DVR because I haven’t felt like slogging through it yet.

I always felt like NCIS: NO was the weakest of the bunch but I don't think Dick Wolf has anything to do with NCIS. I always associate him with the Law & Order franchises.

Correct. Dick Wolf did Law & Order, Chicago franchise, and now FBI at CBS and I think there is an FBI spin-off coming.

It's already started. It's called FBI: Most Wanted.

It's so so but I'll give it more time. FBI I felt was weaker in the beginning and for me it's gotten better.

Both are crossovers. I think the latter is what many refer to a "crossover event" which is kind of like a miniseries. Comic books have gone crossover for years, including things as strange as DC vs Marvel.

I guess what I don't like is crossover events then.

For BCLA... The Grey's Anatomy/Station 11 thing started in a previous Grey's Anatomy episode, continued in last week's Station 11 episode and finished in last week's Grey's Anatomy episode. So if you don't watch Station 11, you'd need to pick it up for a week to get the full story. Last fall they did one that started in a Grey's Anatomy episode and ended in a Station 11 episode.

How could anyone forget about the king of all crossovers - the 3-part "Kill Oscar" crossover between The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman?

Going way back, how about All in the Family, The Jeffersons, and Maude? Plus didn't the maid from The Jeffersons have a short-run spin-off?

ETA: And Maude's maid had a spin-off--Good Times! Also, did anyone mention Cheers and Frasier?

I do not watch Station 19 nor do I have any desire to watch it. I hate cross-overs!

I remember watching reruns of Batman (Adam West) shows and my favorite ones were always when Batgirl showed up. Or watching Scooby Doo Adventures when they had special guests.

This is why I love the Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies. I love seeing other characters showing up in other movies, just like in the comic books.

I loved it when Abed from Community showed up in the background of a Cougar Town episode, and some of the Cougar Town gang were seen on Community. They weren't even on the same network!
