Yea, it's almost worth the 2 extra hours to drive the long way around during the winter.

We will be taking that drive this evening...keeping my fingers crossed! I really don't want to tack on another two hours to an already long drive with four kids...yikes

Keep an eye on the news and definitely check the status before you take off. It would suck to get all the way up there only to be turned back or something.

Before you try to traverse the grapevine check the reports, it could very well be closed by the time you approach it.

I've definitely been glued to the Cal Trans website...so far so good. I know it could change at any time though depending on what the weather decides to do. Whose idea was this trip anyway
