Let me just say that I have been to both US and IoA many, many, MANY times before (annual passes this and last year, as well as a few various times in the previous years). But this was my FIRST time staying ONSITE!
(NOTE; this is long...sorry!!)
I JUST got back 1 1/2 hour ago from my 2-night/3-day trip (so it is around 1:30 AM) and I was VERY pleased with how it went.
We took off at 6AM from a small town in southern Florida and drove up to Orlando. We got a standard room with a standard view (faces opposite direction from park...ugh) with 2 adults (my parents) and two 15-year olds (a friend and myself). We walked into the lobby and thought "Wow!" The interior was beautiful. The employees were EXTREMELY friendly...EXTREMELY! I can not put enough emphasis (sp?) on that! Not a single rude worker there.
We were at the hotel before 9AM and were afraid of having to leave the park at 11AM to check in BUT...our room was ready! Must be a less crowded weekend. We headed to our room in Tower 2. The rooms are yes, tiny, but it was the same size...if not bigger than the standard room at Disney's All-Star Music Resort...although this RPH was MUCH prettier (anyone seen the hideous comforters at All-Star Music?!)
The pool at RPH is decent. Nothing really special but pretty and strangely shaped. Plus some good-looking lifeguards.
Portofino Bay's pool was beautiful with 2 slides. Didn't get to go in it because of a storm, but it's really pretty. They closed at 8PM (Huh?! Pools are supposed to close at 11PM...they said the "lap pool" would stay open late. Why some boring lap pool?! Why not the cool one?) So we went to the HRH to check out their pool. AWESOME! We jumped right in and enjoyed music underwater (I think that's the COOLEST thing) and a nice water slide.
We headed toward US and straight to Jimmy Neutron (my friend hadn't been on it yet). We showed our room keys and went practically on right away. Although I never watch Nick, I am very impressed with this ride. They have improved the ride from Hanna-Babara (is that what it was called??) so much.
We then went to MIB where we tried to beat each other's scores (I briefly scanned over the tips for getting 999,999 points but had no time to memorize them...and my printer wasn't working...
)
So I had to figure out my own way to earn points. My personal best up to this point was around 230,000 but that day I kept getting 100,000 or 180,000 or MAYBE 200,000. Terrible! My dad had reached 496,000 (without the help from the tips). I was sooo mad because he kept rubbing it in our faces (he kept going...and going.... and going...) so it was up to me to shut him up
it wasn't until the last day when I finally passed him with 555,100!
Yippee!!
We saw the Ghostbusters Show...6 times this weekend.
Well, my mom, friend, and I did. My dad would leave to go to Terminator or something (who could blame him?! haha). I brought my camcorder half the time (was recording it for a different friend...as well as myself
) and my camera once. I noticed a new guy and
HOT! lol. My mom is obsessed with this show too. lol. I tease her since the guys are like half her age!
We saw the Horror Makeup Show only once (ran out of time
)
but it was as funny as ever!! How do they always seem to spot the people from other countries? Each time I've been it's been England, Mexico, Poland, Korea, etc!!
I still hate Twister. I HATE tornadoes and I cried when I went on this in 5th grade. My parents and I figured I'm older and would find this lame but...I'm not scared of the show...just scared thinking of the situation. I found it as terrible as ever. Didn't cry though!
Shrek wasn't opened yet
So no report for that. And I noticed it said the Mummy would take place of Kongfrontation in 2004. Neato! Renew passes for next year! Muahahahahahaha!
Islands of Adventure was great. It was my FAVORITE park last year and...this year I've enjoyed US more. Maybe it's the cute guys at Ghostbusters!! lol. One guy was really funny and would pose for the camcorder and everything. It was so cute.
NEVER ride Hulk when it rains. It had stopped raining when I got in the Express line but then started just when my coaster took off. You know when you laugh so hard because something is so painful (kinda like Back to the Future on the first floor). This was like that. It HURT. It felt like hail. Well, you can imagine.
Spiderman, good as ever, as well as Dr. Doom (no one would go on Hulk or Dr. Doom with me
had to go by myself. Boo-hoo...WIMPS!)
So out of the 3 days, 80% was spent at US while the rest at IoA or the hotels. Fun, fun, fun but not enough time for it all! It went by TOO fast (even Mom says so!) Definately planning another trip soon!!
