Teens on their own

My son who is a college freshman and two of his friends plan to do Disney in March, They will be arriving by train, a relative of one of his fiends will be in the area, but canot be counted on to provide transportation.

My questions are

1. the name of a cheap hotel that is clean, they certainly dont need a lot of frills, This hotel must have very good trans to disney

2, how much does it cost for the three of them for trans to Universal?

Why dont they get a hotel on site for the WDW parts, they can stay at an allstars for popcentury...

then take mears or even a cab to universal???

Pop Century still has $79 rates for March I believe...you can check on mousesavers.com and look under codes...Cabs are reasonable to get to the Studios. There are a lot of things for them to enjoy on CityWalk as well. My daughter went Junior year in college but her friend was a year younger and she was "caught" with phony proof. They were escorted back to the taxi stand, and not very nice about it at all. (Threatened to call the police and made to feel like criminals) They were shocked, saying nothing like that would have happened here. I guess they are very STRICT about that policy.

That does sound very un-Disneylike; although presenting a false government document is a criminal act. I suppose Disney is so strong on enforcement so as not to risk losing their ability to sell alcohol.

I have heard that the Holiday Inn(used to be Marriott) has been on Hotwire for 40ish? There is a thread about it on the boards(probably the Orlando hotels board). This should have pretty decent transportation to WDW.

The Orlando hotels board is a good place to check for off site hotel deals
